Shadow slunk through the trees, making noise loud enough to send the whole forest packing and on their way to safety. He snapped large branches, not even trying to make an effort to keep quiet. The mountain lion blood tasted good to him, making his mouth water. Shadow stepped into a clearing, oblivious of what was headed straight towards the clearing. He stopped still, hearing a faint sound above him. Shadow looked up just in time to see a white female dragon come crashing down onto the forest. He leaped back, dropping the mountain lion to the ground. Shadow scrambled back into the trees.
He heard the sickly sound of her crash landing down onto the forest floor. Shadow slowly turned around and stared at the unconscious female dragon. He padded out from behind the trees, cautious and curious about the white dragon.
Shadow crept over to her, unaware that she had been knocked out cold. He slowly lowered his head and looked her over, wondering if she was dead. Shadow reached out with a large paw and softly poked the white female. She didn’t react to the pressure of his sharp talon.
“Yep.” Shadow said to himself, sitting back. “She’s dead…” he nodded slowly, agreeing with himself. He stood to leave, but froze, seeing her chest rise and fall. She was alive. Shadow lowered himself so he was level with the dragoness, taking in her scent. He stared at her motionless muzzle, not knowing what to do. Shadow shrugged then stood up and walked over to her side. He reached out and shook her, steadily yet furiously, trying to awake her. Shadow didn’t know what to think. He couldn’t decide on whether to stay and help her, or go on with his business and just pretend this had never happened.
Finally he gave up, knowing he couldn’t wake her with his mere shaking. Shadow sat back in thought, sighed then shut his eyes. He growled under his breath then looked the dragoness over again.
