"When will I be able to walk again", Skypaw asked Thunderheart, wincing. She knew she wouldn't be able to walk the same on her leg like her mother told her, but she would still be able to stand up and walk, well, differently on it. She perked her ears as she heard Willowkit shriek. She sensed a strange stillness in the air and flattened her ears to her head as she was sure she knew what had happened. "I think something's w-wrong with Willowkit", she mewed, her voice trembling slightly.


Darkfur sat on the other side of the stream, catching fish along with Stormpaw. He looked over after a little while at the fish they had already caught. "This should be enough for now", he mewed.

Stormpaw sat back and looked at the pile of fish he had caught. "How are we going to take them back?" He asked.

"What?" demanded Thunderheart, irritated. He had spent the day collecting yarrow for the kit and he was exhausted now. But as he turned and sniffed the motionless kit he throbbed. Willowkit was dead? She made no move. Thunderheart called for his leader. "We'll need a burial ceremony," he rasped, his voice raw with grief. The kit's older brother, Blizzardpaw, had died struck by a monster, and Willowkit's parents were in StarClan as well. How would Wolfkit cope with this?

Darkfur thought for a moment. They had caught a lot of fish and they wouldn't be able to carry it all back to camp at once. He looked around, his gaze resting on a large tree covered with moss a little ways down the stream. "I know", he mewed. "We can pull off a big enough piece of moss from that tree, pile the fish in it, and we each grab one side on it to carry it back to camp. That way we can take all of the fish back to camp at once" he told Stormpaw.

Skypaw scooted herself around in her nest, trying not to move her leg. "So she's in Starclan now…?", she mumbled mostly to herself.

Stormpaw nodded, he got some moss and loaded it with the fish. He picked up an end.
