Rosefrost

Rosefrost glanced up as Breezeflame padded into the den. She hadn't moved much since he left, even though her mind insisted on her either moving or falling into a deep sleep. She was exhausted, but not. It was a strange feeling, but she decided against giving into her cloudy vision. "Hi," she mumbled to the tom and flicked her tail in greeting.

Rosefrost was about to object, but then the smell of fresh rabbit drifted over her. She hesitated; it wouldn't be so bad to have just one piece of prey, would it? But what would that mean, to her and Breezeflame? It would mean he helped out a clan mate, mouse-brain, she told herself sternly. Rosefrost nodded quickly, before her mind could object anymore. "Yeah, sure. Thanks," she meowed softly.

Pebblefrost growled and slunk away, he found it hard, the real reason he'd broken up with her is because she wasn't his type and that he'd said it in the heat of the moment. He saw Snakeclaw and his breath caught in his throat as he saw Thrushcloud, he padded over "Hi guys!" he greeted them happily.

Behold my longest post in the RP to date! }}

Bluetail heard the thundering paws of her mate behind her, and the feeling of running with him was, well, amazing. His leg had healed completely too, and though he sported a bit of baldness, she didn't mind at all. He wore his scar proudly, like a Warrior tom would, and she was proud that she could be called Darkpelt's mate.

She placed her forepaws up on the tree trunk and opened her jaws wide, eyes flitting left and right as she searched. The scents of squirrels and mice and voles and rabbit all around them combined in her brain and addled it, making her almost drunk with the scent in her nostrils and the taste of it on the roof of her mouth.

She searched til she locked onto her prey; a young fat grey squirrel was cleaning itself with it's back to her, chattering away to itself in it's own language.

"Great Starclan..." she almost drooled.

She leapt up to the tree trunk, her claws clutching onto the grooves between the bark tightly as she quietly shimmied her way up the tree to not disturb the squirrel, head and tail laying parallel and close to the trunk to keep out of sight. Once in the branches, she felt at home. She wasn't a strong fighter, nor could she sprint for hundreds of tree-lengths at a time after prey. Her forte was stealth and agility, and Bluetail felt that she excelled when stalking in the branches, watching cats on the ground or prey in neighbouring trees. Her pelt was not a colour she could easily use to hide in shadows, so she practised extra hard to be stealthy. She hoped that Darkpelt was watching her; she had wanted to impress him like this for so long, and to prove that she was a capable cat.

Wait for it...

She crept closer across the branch that was as thick as her body, head down between her shoulder, tail down, claws unsheathed.

Wait for it...

She moved through the branches down-wind, so the squirrel had little time to react to her if she was detected.

Wait for it...

She settled and wriggled, feeling the energy coiling in her unused muscles for the explosion of speed and power, her body knowing what to do by instinct.

...Attack!

She leapt across the gap between her branch and the squirrel's, claws unsheathed in mid air. As she landed her weight shook the leaves and her prey shot off in terror. She chased it down, til she realised it was running across the thinning branch to leap to another tree to safety.

Nuh-uh, she had been here before. She wasn't going to let it escape! She ran faster and faster til she almost had it. The squirrel jumped and flung itself to safety, but so did Bluetail. She jutted her neck outward, keeping her forelegs down as she jumped. She snapped her jaws around it's body in mid-air, crushing it's lungs and breaking it's back, and at the same time she shifted her weight as she pivoted 180 degrees. Her foreleg claws gripped the branch hard and stopped the front half of her body while her back legs and tail kept going til they arced over her head and dangled off the end of the branch.

She had her prey in her jaws, and she hadn't fallen off the branch. What a success! She beamed and purred and pulled herself back up, doing a little hop and bounce in happiness. What an amazing feeling to be back doing the thing she was best at after so long!

Pebblefrost smiled gently at Thrushcloud "Ahem... oh um, hi!" he replied, almost stumbling over his words. He sat down and began preening his soft thick fur as it glowed in the sunlight almost majestically, his rotating ears caught the sound of Petalfur's growls, but he ignored it. Pebblefrost then moved onto his paws, momentarily pausing as he opened his jaws in a yawn before clamping the shut again.
