Bluetail blushed as Darkpelt came over and gave her one of the smiles she had rarely seen on him. With an ironic sigh, she realised that the kind smile just made him all the more handsome, which strummed over her nerves.

Just when I thought that I was safe from him, I find this out. Oh joy...

"No no...It's ok," Bluetail said quietly, "it's just...Cottonwish sounds like she doesn't like me anymore..."

She looked to her torn side, and her broken rib twinged with, to Bluetail's relief, less pain she had previously become almost crippled with.

"I think the poppy seeds are helping...My side isn't hurting as much as it did," she meowed quietly.

She looked to Darkpelt and managed a wry smile.

Thank you...For helping with the badger, if it wasn't for you and Pebblefrost, Rainclaw and I would've been eaten. At least we have Rainclaw's body to bury in honour of his memory,"

She pressed her nose to his shoulder and rubbed her cheek against him in as much of an embrace as her injuries could allow her.

"I really hope I don't scar..." she murmured, motioning to her torn side with a flick of her tail, "a part of me hoped I could reach my 30 moons without a major injury scarring,"

Darkpelt rested his chin on her head gently. "Don't worry, Cottonwish isn't mad with you. She was rather mad at me though, because she thought I just abandoned her when I went to go fight that badger." He meowed, trailing off as his eyes turned cold and sorrowful, the harsh memories of Rainclaw's death flooding back to him. It seemed unreal that he could be dead. He sighed and pressed into Bluetail a little bit more, comforted by her presence and happy that she was still alive. Darkpelt dared to wonder what state he might be in if Bluetail had died and not Rainclaw. Trying to shut out such depressing thoughts, Darkpelt redirected them to something different, something lighter. "Hey, at least it's nice weather for Leaf-bare." He shrugged, completely off-topic.

flamestreak came back into camp with a limp and teeth marks in her leg she then limped past the medicine cats entrance and towards the warriors entrance

Watersprout turned away from Hawk and Grayn, and went up to talk to Darkpelt and Bluetail. She raced up there in an instant. "Darkpelt and Bluetail, look, I'm sorry, if you don't accept that will be your problem." she said sighing. She turned to Bluetail. "I'm so sorry, no lying at all! I didn't mean any of those nasty names I called you," she turned to Darkpelt. " And you I'm sorry for bothering your relationships! No lie, I promise. It's your choice to pick your future path." she said sighing and blushing instantly.

Bluetail moved her head so that she was rubbing under his chin, feeling the strength in Darkpelt's neck, shoulders and chest.

His sudden change of topic of conversation almost brought a bubble of laughter up from her chest, but she couldn't hold the tiny chuckle inside.

"Oh yes, it is still mild enough that it's not freezing yet. Plenty of prey still around to feast on before the snow sets in," she meowed, "I'm sure I could catch a squirrel or two before they all disappear to hibernate,"

She paused and looked up.

"Would you help me catch them? The two I caught before were difficult enough, but now my ribs hurt that I can't run properly. Squirrel is my favourite..."

I wonder how many of our new kittens will survive Leaf-Bare...They're all terribly young. Some could catch something deadly...I've seen and heard it all before...

"I wonder if Rowanbranch has included that fact when she became pregnant again," she mewed, brow creasing in worry, "kittens shouldn't be born in the middle of Leaf-Bare; it's far too cold and the risk of death is very high..."

She was voicing her concerns to her the tom beside her, and she looked up at him with beseeching blue eyes.

Suddenlt Watersprout was there, and Bluetail immediately tensed from the reaction of the last time they met. Her broken ribs yowled in pain, and she struggled to try and stand. But before she could, Watersprout was apologising. Apologising! Bluetail didn't know how to respond to the sudden apology, wherever it came from, and she looked to the other she-cat as though she announced jaw-dropping news. Which, Bluetail mused to herself, this was.

"Erm...That's ok..." she meowed cautiously, her eyes looked at the she-cat in curiosity, "where has this sudden apology come from anyway...?"

She looked away blushing. "I've seen lots of fighting and my kits need to have a better influence. I don't like it anymore." she said coldly at the moment remembering the fight that they had. "You just need t know that it is the truth and you need no worry to say that it is a lie." she suggested for her. "Are you ever going to have kits?" she said noticing how she was moving quite awkwardly. "With your ribs like that?" she asked curiously.

flamestreak started cleaning her wound and was thinking about how her brother attacked her

Bluetail clicked her tongue a little in her mouth as the other she-cat spoke.

"Well...I accept your apology," she finally said.

She settled back down to rest her broken ribs.

"Will you be bringing your kittens back to the Clan? We can all pitch in to help look after them, and they'll be safe," she suggested, "I don't know what's out there, but Loners and Rogues love to try and kill kittens..."

At Watersprout's mention of kittens of her own, Bluetail squeaked a little in embarrassment. She avoided looking at Darkpelt as she spoke, and she chose to speak with a calm collected voice.

"I don't think I'll ever be a mother," she mewed calmly, "I guess I won't even consider motherhood at least until my ribs are mended, and that could take a while,"

She laughed a little.

"I'm not as young as I used to be," she said with humour, "I figure the time window to get pregnant is limited now,"

She looked to the other she-cat kindly.

"You and Rowanbranch have already provided the Clan with enough kittens, and Rowanbranch is pregnant yet again. I think there's enough, and since Leaf-Bare is here, food is going to get in short supply anyway. There isn't usually enough food to feed the adults and the older Apprentices, nevermind 10 plus kittens on top of that," she said wisely.
