Hawk prowled along the soft forest floor, his ears perked forward and his nose twitching. He was on the rare scent-trail of a rabbit; something Hawk hadn't eaten in moons it seemed. He hadn't eaten in a long while, and he was so ready to sink his teeth into a fresh piece of prey. He was just a few tail-lengths from the rabbit when another scent---an oddly familiar one---hit his nostrils. In surprise, he took a step back. The rabbit finally noticed him and hopped away, vanishing into the underbrush.
Hawk cursed under his breath, then looked for the source of the scent that had made him lose his meal. There, just beyond the treeline, was a she-cat talking with a tom. After Hawk watched the two long and hard, something inside his mind clicked. Dawnstar and Grayn. He thought. Suddenly, a sly smile crept onto his muzzle. He'd been waiting for the day he'd come face-to-face with his sister; the day her fate would finally come. So he sat, long bushy tail curled contently around his paws, and waited for Grayn to leave so he could strike.
