The perfectionist allowed the two apprentices to deposit the orange tabby onto one of the plush moss nests near a large stone slab. On the slab, damp herbs were laid out to dry in the dim sunlight seeping in through the cracks of the tree roots. After all, the medicine cat's den was simply a hollow space underneath an oak tree. The young medicine cat slipped into an area marked off with roots. The strong scent of freshly picked herbs was almost sickening, but Crow had adapted quickly under her mentor. She poked her head out and glanced at Brackenpaw. “You. Go run to the fresh-kill pile and get this. . . thing something proper to eat,” she shuddered as she attempted to describe Ebony. The ashy she-cat added frostily, “If you attempt to make a break for it, you'll have a whole clan on your tail.” With that, Crow disappeared back into the herb storage area. She plucked some marigold for the golden-eyed tom's wounds. They mostly like would've grown infected if not treated immediately.
The pale-eyed she-cat sat at Ebony's side, chewing the marigold to pulp. As she gnashed her teeth together, she questioned the kittypet. “What's your name and why were you on our territory?” her voice came out cool and rather casual. Crow's eyes trailed down the orange tom's body. She could see the outline of his ribs through the fur that clung loosely to this weakened frame. Suddenly, a whisper escaped her and her yellow eyes softened immensely. “You poor poor tom. . .” Going frigid, the DarkClan medicine cat's eyes froze once more and she prayed that the kittypet hadn't heard her. “You'll have to stay here for a while. Your lack of nutrients is going to leave you weak for a long time,” she mewed quickly to cover up her whisper.

As Ebony was plopped down, his sides heaved with an exhausted wheeze. Without another word, the two younger cats turned tail and disappeared, leaving him totally alone. The plush green thing that he laid in took some of the ache off of his battered body, but the pangs in his stomach made him wince mentally with every shuddering breath. As his shortened breaths pulsed violently from his body, his stiff frame allowed him to slowly roll onto his belly, his head lifting as he looked around the den. The 'roof' of the oak tree was a little closer than he was used to, and pugnent scents of unrecognizable plants wafted up into his nose. Pollen and leaf dust made the corners of the tom's eyes sting, and he flattened his ears as he shook his head to clear it. Then, a noise caught his ear and it pricked, making the former Kittypet stop in his tracks and turning his attention to the den entrance once more.
The smoky she-cat had slipped into the den with him, padding towards Ebony. She turned once to poke her head out and mew an order to a nearby youngster, before streaking back inside and stalked in his direction. Though her back was turned to the light and made shadows fall over her, he could still get a good look at her. Her ears were rounded slightly but pointed at the tips, and they occasionally flicked and swiveled. Her eyes were a gorgeous yellow eyes- brighter than his- and fit her narrowed face rather nicely. Her whiskers were perfectly straight, not a single bend in them dared to show and ruin her youthful appearence. She made a sharp veer away from him and towards a cluster of similar-looking leaves, stacked together in a snug corner. Plucking a few up skillfully between her claws, she turned tail and padded towards him, halting at his side and beginning to chew up the leaves. For a moment, this was the only sound that emitted from the pretty she-cat as she worked. Then after some time, she turned her head to face him directly. "What's your name, and why are you on our territory?" She questioned between chews. Ebony still found himself gazing at her structure tentatively, as if he expected her to snap at anytime. For a demanding she-cat, she sure was breathtaking.
"I'm Ebony." The Kit finally hoarsed, pausing to lick his dry, chapped lips. His voice was cracked, and he forced down a cough as he spoke up again. "I was sent by a... Dream, that I had."
{ N'awh, I 'tink Ebony might have the beginnings of a crush.~ ;D
Oooohhhhh wait, can we make that happen?! It'll add to the drama!!~ }
