Fishleap
The orange tom managed a faint smile as he flicked an orange ear forward in approval. "Nice catch," he purred, true warmth twined into his words. With vibrant amber eyes shining with pride, the aging senior warrior settled down warily on his haunches. They would be feeding another hungry kit or queen. The feeling made his insides bubbly with delight as he sat down to lick the dirt from his claws. His tail tip twitched in agitation before Fishleap mewed sadly, "I believe I will be retiring and joining Willowsong in the Elders' Den soon." Just that morning, he had noticed a strange creak in his joints and he had to resist to lash out impatiently at the apprentices. He had been a senior warrior for quite a bit anyways... The warrior's whiskers had faded into a pale silvery grey ages ago and his movement had slowed down drastically.

Blinking a thanks, Rockpath tilted her head and watched as Fisleap slowly sat on his haunches. For the first time, she realized how old and frail the tom actually looked. He was hunched over his glazed eyes, and his trembling whiskers were pale and silver in color. Wrinkles had formed at the corners of his eyes, and they were almost closed against the shafts of sunlight that set his ginger fur ablaze. With a flick of her ear, Rockpath's unreadable gaze swept over Fishleap and a swift nod took hold of her briefly. Lowering her head to drop the mouse she opened her mouth to speak. "Can't disagree with you on that one." she admitted, lifting her head and sweeping her wolf-like tail low over the forest floor. "But I bet you've served your Clan well; surely it would be a relief to finally retire?" Sitting down, she placed a paw atop her catch as she awaited an answer. Her voice posessed nothing of sarcastic or snarky nature- it was geniunely curious in tone. The felupine herself was not looking forward to getting old, but everyone was different, right?
