Fishleap nodded, eyes glinting in the bright sunlight. They could not afford to miss this catch. He dropped into a hunters' crouch and stalked forward, whiskers nearly brushing the many blades of grass beneath his large paws. Inhaling sharply and quietly, he place one paw ahead of the other, moving forward slowly, step by step. With his tail barely raised above the frosted ground, the orange tom stepped forward once again until the mouse was only tail lengths ahead of him. Flicking an ear towards Rockpath, he signaled that he would be her back-up if necessary. His muzzle brushed the ground as he lowered himself behind a ferny plant, eyes narrowing hungrily. He swallowed and licked his lips as he waited for Rockpath to make her move.R O C K PA T H .
Rockpath watched Fishleap as he slunk off into the foliage, his eyes never leaving the mouse for a second. Besides a few silver hairs that dotted its flank it was pure brown, and its plump body scuttled through the undergrowth in its quest for food. Muscles rippling she slipped forward, lean body sliding easily under the warm rays of the sun. Though the felupine was much better at hunting at night, she knew that they could not afford to miss this precious catch. It could easily die down the hunger pains of a famished Warrior. Her fur was sleek and pressed back as a cool wind blew through, making Rockpath downwind of her prey. For a heartbeat it lifted its head and she held her breath, hoping that it had not detected her. However, a brief wave of relief washed over her as it looked back down, its paws scrabbling at the ground in front of it. Rocking on her haunches she waited, watching as the mouse scuttled clumsily back and forth. For such a small creature, it wasn't the leanest prey in the forest.
With a mighty leap Rockpath sprang, claws outstrecthed and diving down towards the mouse. By the time the mouse had even noticed her presence, it was too late. In a flash she was down on it, nipping at its neck with blazing speed. No squeal emitted from its tiny throat as the felupine's teeth came in contact with its neck, feeling the bones snap under their weight. The mouse gave one final writh and fell limp, its life flowing out around it in a scarlet liquid. Picking up the warm body between her teeth Rockpath gazed at Fishleap, flicking her tail in a brief moment of triumph.
{ They should accidently stray too far towards the border and meet some Rival Clan cats!!~ }
