Ravenclaw laughed. "Dewstar!" He called. "Do you want to lend us a hand?" He asked. "Hello there." He said, and picked Fleetkit up by the scruff. "You three are getting big." He grinned.

Amberkit made a face as her ears were pressed down. "Hi Thunderbelly!" She said happily. Then she paused. "Have you ever caught an eagle?" She asked. "Willowsong said that only the best warriors can catch them."

[float away.]

"Well Little Miss, it seems all bets are on Thunderbelly unless you have any other ideas." Rabbitleap stretched, back cracking as he twisted slightly, which caused a sigh to escape his mouth.

Thunderbelly held still, making sure not to move too quickly or much at all so the kit would remain balanced. He could catch her if she fell, but he preferred she remained perched and safe. Laughing heartily, he abruptly stopped, remembering Skykit on his head and back. Assuring himself she was still in place he looked at Amberkit and grinned. "Dear Starclan that was moons ago. I did once. So did Ravenclaw here. When we went on a trip up a mountain to visit a tribe. We desperately needed a mountain herb. We caught a pair of eagles that day. They came after some of the Tribe's To-bes, their apprentices. Ravenclaw took one, I took the other and it was pure dumb luck that we managed that stunt. Most cats would have ended up dead. Maybe I'll show you some of the feathers some time. I kept some and they are hidden in a safe place."

Greymist looked unsure, but he was also excititedg too, he gulped down the squirrel and stood up.

Amberkit nodded, transfixed by the story. "Do they taste funny? Are they big? Was Willowsong there? What color are eagles? Do they really eat cats?" She asked.

Ravenclaw laughed. "That was a very long time ago, indeed. I still have the beak. I buried it with Thunderbelly's flowers." He said.

Skykit mewed in, what she thought was a , mature tone, "Well, we're going to be apprentices soon." Then her goofy smile returned and she leaped down from Thunderbelly's back, managing not to fall on her bottom. Instead, she face-planted into the snow and came up splattering the cold precipitation everywhere.

Dewstare chuckled and promised to speak with Red-eye in a moment. "Oh dear, what happened?" she snickered at the two toms. "I leave you for a moment and this happens."

"Come with me," Pinewhisker smiled when Greymist finished. "I'll show you the apprentices' den in a moment. It's where you I'll be staying for a little bit."

Jaywing pouted and frowned. "Why is it always a tom? It could be me or you, but you're a tom too. How about Moonflower, Red-eye, or Copperwhisker?!"

"What's that?' he asked, following him slowely.

Amberkit dropped ino the hunter's crouch and pounced on Skykit. "I'm going to be the eagle!!" She announced.

Ravenclaw chuckled and looked at the sky. "It's almost deputy time." He said pointedly, looking at Dewstar, then winking at Thunderbelly.

"What about me?" Moonflower asked, limping over to Jaywing and Rabbitleap.

"And the talons." Thunderbelly thought over the bombardment of of questions before answering. "They taste a lot like sparrow, just leaner and tougher. And they are HUGE, their body is as large as I am and their wings are three tail lengths wide! And Willowsong was indeed there, scolding and yowling at me the whole time." His grin grew wider at the memory, "One was a golden brown, called tawny color and its partner was a darker red brown. And they do, just like owls. Except eagles can eat much larger cats than just kits."

Fleetkit pounced on her sister, forcing her head back into the snow with a wicked giggle.

Rabbitleap chuckled, "Is this some new-age she-catism I see? What's so wrong with a tom anyways? Am I not good enough for ya Little Miss?" It was all said as a joke, no seriousness behind the questions.

Amberkit looked at Thunderbelly in amazement. "I forgot my questions." She said. Then she grinned. "But that sounds so cool! What sort of noise do they make? What do sparrows taste like?" She asked.

Thunderbelly laughed and pawed at her, inviting her to play. "They screech and its a most dreadful noise. Like an angry Goosepaw. And sparrows you will just have to try."
