Bramblepaw was curled up next to Shadowpaw, snoring lightly.

Shadowpaw tried to sleep, but it was her following sleepless day. Should she tell Firestar? Confront her mentor? Shadowpaw's mind was swamped with questions.

The scent of pine filled Shadowpaw's nose as Pinestar appeared. "Hello, Shadowpaw," he meowed. It was only Shadowpaw that could hear him. All the other apprentices were asleep. satisfaction creeped into his chest. "Shadowpaw, a great destiny lies ahead of you."

(Wasn't trying to play her.)

"Follow me, Shadowpaw. I can show you some things that a even a warrior with the sharpest eyes couldn't see. You will see things no other warrior could ever see. Come on," Pinestar meowed. He led the way out the apprentices' den.
