Winter kept quiet as Fenyetta let loose with a heated string of questions, swishing her tail lightly over the tall grass as she mulled each and every one over. She nibbled her lip as she found it difficult to come up with any certain answer. How many times had it been, when she'd been just a young, orphaned thing, still dealing with so much loss, and had cried out in frustration as to why their leader had left them? Why all the adults and budding bulls had fought so bravely trying to protect their home and herd, many of them dying, and then he'd just picked up and gone without even an explanation? Her breath caught in her throat slightly as her eyes wandered back to Thorin for maybe a half-second, all of her own questions resurfacing fully for the first time in years. She'd been a lot like Fenyetta in her youth, all questions and not nearly enough time to ask them all before she grew older, and learned to keep more of her curiosities to herself.
Taking in a deep breath, and closing her eyes for a moment as she calmingly exhaled through her nostrils, she smiled softly to the Kirin. But the cow's attention abruptly shifted to Darius before she could say anything, firing off one more question, like the final rumble of thunder from a fading storm. At least that would give her a little more time to think about what, exactly, she was going to tell Fenyetta about the matter. And then, as he usually did, Gabriel came drifting out of his sleepy daze and happened to wander through, possibly just for the sole purpose of nipping his brother's hip. "Hello ladies~" the bull received them through a grin, and then kept along his merry way as he crossed the field toward Bentley. Poor Ben. Her eyebrows raised just a hair as she nodded her head in kind greeting, she shook her head once more (A day didn’t go by where she wasn’t shaking her head at at least one of the two brothers’ antics) after he'd got past them good. Always the charmer.
She gave her pelt a small shake before she turned her attention back to Darius and Fenyetta, looking around briefly before her expression brightened by a few degrees. "The heat of the day's about underway, why don't we all venture over to the shade for a while? I'll tell you what I know once we're there." she offered gently, gesturing toward quite the stately example of a shade tree, out in the open and away from the forest's edge to allow for optimal view from all sides. The three of them were far too close to those dark thickets for her own liking, since she was well aware that things lived in there, and she thought it best for them to put a little distance between them... and it.
