Aya snorted at the dog, still not totally buying it. She limped round before laying down on her own, watching them all. An ear flicked back to pick up noises from behind her. She was injured, and this made her vulnerable. She didn't like to feel weak, or let others know that she was in pain, otherwise the predators would get her...
She had promised herself that she wasn't going to go down without a fight...

"Skye, why do I get the feeling Aya might never trust us? We have not given her any reason to not trust us, have we?" Patch asked his mate.

Starwatcher walked up to Patch and Skye, wanting to ask them if everything was all right, but seeing Patch asking Skye something he turned around and started looking for Snow who had walked off in a different direction.

Skye shook her head, licking Patch on the nose. "She just needs some time. I bet it has been a long day for her, what she must have gone through. I mean, predators wouldn't attack a pack of us, but an injured mare... She is just wary, I'm sure it'll wear off after a little while." She nuzzled him reassuringly, smiling warmly.

"Allright. You need to get some sleep. Why don't you go lay down next Aya and keep her company till you both fall asleep. I have to stay and keep an eye on the pack. Goodnight, my darling." Patch said as he leaned in to kiss his mate gently on her head.

Skye smiled and nodded, padding over to Aya. "We are telling the truth. I would say that you're safe with us, but anything can happen. We won't hurt you but we can promise that nothing could happen to you. I hope you understand. But none of us would harm you in any way." She sighed and sat down where she was, so as to not get too close. "You have to trust me." She curled up where she was, it was rather uncomfortable but if Aya was happy.

Aya sighed and looked over at the dog. "So, how did you get here?" She tilted her head slightly. She was curious about them, and glad that Skye had curled up further away. Something about her voice calmed her down, made her feel that she was telling the truth. But when your life is at stake, you have to stay on your guard at all times.

Skye shrugged. "I had an owner once, my parents were show dogs... But I can out different to my siblings so I was sold..." She hesitated for a moment. "They had a boy, about 10 years old... He was my best friend. And I was his, but as he grew up too quickly. Soon he didn't care about me... They moved house and I wandered the streets. And that's when I found Patch, well, when he found me." She sighed as she spoke of her past, a blade cutting through her heart. "I guess you could call it love at first sight. And well, here I am. A balloon." She giggled softly, cocking her head at the mare. "So, what's your story?"

Aya smirked slightly at Skye's last comment. "Well, I was born and raised wild. I was separated from my herd. Humans tried to break my spirit, but I never gave up. The memories of my family and friends kept me going strong. I wouldn't let them get to me. No way was I letting them on my back, eh?" She giggled, smiling warmly at the dog. "As you can see, I escaped. I jumped the fence that they thought was unjumpable. It was a barbed wire fence, don't know how tall... I cut up my legs, as you can see... But I made it." She sighed. "Then I just ran, didn't look back... Just ran. And that's when your Patch found me."

Starwatcher saw that Patch and Skye were done talking, and as PAtch walked away, Starwatcher caught up to him. "Hey, Patch. Do you want me to watch the pack from midnight till dawn so you can get some sleep?"

"Sure," Patch replied. "Why don't you go get some sleep right now and I'll wake you up when the moon reaches the top of the sky."

Skye frowned with a soft sigh at Aya's story. "Oh, I'm so sorry... Its just terrible. I was separated from my family too. It was the hardest thing I ever had to face." She got to her paws and moved over to where Aya sat, sitting down beside her. "It'll all be ok in the end, you'll see." She gave her a reassuring smile and nudged her lightly with her head. "You'll see."

Ice smiled and stood up "I know who my mte will be." she said.

Alyano cocked his head at Ice, smiling slightly. He wagged his tail, trying to keep it hidden.
