Wrenpaw

"Great actually. We just started work on battlemoves yesterday. It's very tiring though." Wrenpaw said. It was something she probably wouldn't say around her mentor, or any of the warriors in fact, since she really only trusted Starlingpaw. It was hard for her, trying to be so mature all the time, but she could be more herself around her brother, since he knew her best. She took a bite of her mouse, and continued to contemplate how her training had been.

Starlingpaw sighed, gazing into Wrenpaw's eyes. "Don't tire yourself out. It's not good for you. If you're tired, just sleep in a little late. I'll make an excuse." He winked. His brother was the only one to trust, since Wrenpaw wouldn't tell any secrets or anything. His paws were numb now, from sitting on them. He shook out his paws, squeaking with pain. "No! Oww! No! Stop!" He kept on squealing until the pain stopped. He glanced at Wrenpaw. How stupid of him to squeak like a kit.

Goldenpaw looked up. "Yes, you're right," she meowed. "I'm sorry. I'm just so excited!" She went back to eating her mouse, more slowly. It was already almost gone, and she had barely realized it. She felt a sudden sweep of shame, knowing she was already making a fool of herself before she even slipped into a hunter's crouch. Great, she thought. Now I look like some overexcited kit who is allowed to leave the den for the first time! You stupid, stupid mousebrain!

Sablefur looked over at Goldenpaw and shook her head. She had always been overexcited, always willing and ready to prove herself. Sometimes a little too willing... She always thought she had to prove she was as good, no, better than all the apprentices. Just because she was born outside of the clan. Sablefur picked up the vole carcass and took care of it, then returned. "Well, I'm ready! Ready to show what you've learned, Goldenpaw?"

Starlingpaw glanced at the conversation between Goldenpaw and Sablefur. She was squeaking, jumping up and down. He sighed, looking down at his paws. He wished he was like that, excited for a training. He was always so jealous of her. Maybe he shouldn't have been a medicine cat apprentice? Wait, no. What was he saying? He wanted to be a medicine cat, so he should work. Sighing again, he stood up and padded into his den, then sorting out herbs again.

Wrenpaw

Wrenpaw frowned a bit. "I get plenty of sleep." She didn't like being reminded, but then she realized that he was just being her caring brother. "But thanks for looking out for me anyways." She said quickly, her expression softening. She finished her food and stood at the same time that Starlingpaw did, though she hadn't sat on her paws. She gave an amused purr "I've got to go now. Make sure to take care of yourself too." She said, licking a piece of fur on the top of her brother's head that had been sticking up, then leaving to go find her mentor.

Starlingpaw nodded and put his head back in his den. He looked at his herbs. Hmm... We're low on wild garlic and yarrow... His smile faded as he thought that kits might hate him because the herbs were so disgusting. Should he put it in fresh kill next time, to erase the taste? But that's too mean. He shook his head, not coming up with an idea. His nose wrinkled in disgust, too, thinking of stuffing his mouth with a tasty freshkill and herbs.

Robinstar

"Good timing Sablefur, it looks like we're all ready to go." Robinstar said, standing and stretching. "How does heading near the Sunclan border sound?" He suggested as a place to go. He really didn't feel like having a run in with Fireclan would be a good idea right now, of all the clans, Fireclan was the worst to end up running into, and everyone knew it. The Fireclan cats avoided the other clans though, so at least there was that.

The fur on the back of Sablefur's neck prickled. It was mostly from her dream; she couldn't shake the feeling. Just a dream, she kept trying to convince herself. She shook her fur, and started licking her shoulder in an attempt to appear she had been attacked by a nasty flea. "That sounds fine," she meowed, turning. She stood up, her tail curling from side to side in anticipation as she meowed, "Goldenpaw?"

Goldenpaw nodded as she swallowed the last bite. She bounded over and took care of the bones, then bounded back. There was one technique in particular she had worked extra-hard on. It was one Sablefur usually used to catch squirrels and chipmunks. You had to chase the squirrel halfway up a tree, then spring up after it and catch it. Sablefur said she used it because she wasn't quiet enough to catch mice and wasn't quick enough to catch voles. Goldenpaw could catch both easily, but wanted to learn the other to impress Sablefur.

Robinstar

Robinstar nodded as all of the patrol was gathered. "Alright, let's go." He said, taking care of his prey's bones on the way out of camp. He led the way at a quick, but easy pace. He wanted to get to the great area where there were lots of willows. It was right on the border, but it was a great place for them to catch voles, shrews, and even the occasional mouse. It would be good practice for all of them, since voles and shrews weren't something that Treeclan cats focused on catching often, despite their unique flavors.

Starlingpaw watched sadly as Robinstar led the way out of camp, to the borders. I wish I had more bonds between cats... He kept on shaking his head and sorting out herbs. His eyes tired, he padded out to the forest and began to search for more catmint. I hope there are some stalks left, he thought. He kept on walking until he saw some gnawed stalks of catnip, chewed and leaves broken off. What did this? A rustle alerted him. He spun around, facing the bush. A creature stepped out of the shadows of the bush.....
