Shard had seen Lilit leave camp and his heart lurched with pain as he saw the fae he once loved, still loved, leave the camp. The names others called her also hurt him, as he thought about everything they had gone through together.
He regreted the times he seemed to have abandoned her, leaving her with a choice that broke his heart in the end. His fights with Bravo had made things worse, almost turning his own heart cold while Lilit suffered because of him. If he had never foughten or argued, where would they be now? Would they be better friends? Would they possibly have become mates again? Shard didn't know, but it was too late for what-ifs. The past was done and there was nothing he could of done to change that.
His heart still ached for her, and he felt empty inside. Was Lilit the only one whom he would ever love, or would he love once more? Love was a confusing path of twists and turns, sometimes leaving someone broken and left behind. They weren't broken forever, but they could be rebuilt with time. Was Shard one of those who could be helped? He didn't know.
