You grew up on these legends...

Perhaps it existed in the same world as men. Perhaps, long ago, it had been one of their settlements. Certainly, some creatures have found strange structures of stone, cloaked under centuries of moss and dirt, and there are still stories of two-legged creatures with the wits of a wolf but far outmatching them in population.
Those are just stories though, most likely made up by the pack's elders to entertain the pups. No matter what existed in the past, it was an undeniable fact of nature: The wolves ruled the great plains and forests, and all but a rare few joined under a single pack, numbering at nearly seven hundred individuals.
Most wolves were rather unremarkable. But every litter always seemed to bring another pup or two with something... different. Some had fur or eyes of unnatural hues, others were far larger than their littermates... some even possessed the ability to create flames or read the thoughts of others, just to name a few. The rarest of all were winged and could fly as well as a bird.
It was during the ninth year under the leadership of Atlanta (born with the power to command fire) and Hector (the fastest wolf of the pack) that the reason for these abilities and mutations was found. A nasty storm had forced the hunting party to take shelter in a previously unused cave. A few of the more curious members began to explore the place, finding that the cave led into a large tunnel. After nearly half an hour of following the winding passage, the tunnel opened up into an enormous cavern.
The wolves present froze at the sight that greeted them. Numerous, luminous little crystals jutted out from the roof of the cave, while larger ones were scattered about the floor and walls. The stalagmites and stalactites had grown to resemble flowers or trees, while some held a faint resemblance to animals and birds.
A few of the braver hunters made their way across the smooth floor until they came to an enormous stone near the back of the cavern. It was taller than a wolf standing on their hind legs and wide enough that it took four hunters to encircle it. It was not perfectly round - in fact, aside from its size, it seemed like an entirely unremarkable boulder. Atlanta was the first to learn that it was not.
The second she touched her nose to the stone, she burst into flames which died down seconds later. The once creamy wolf had been left with charred black fur, her amber eyes now bright red, and her paw pads glowing like embers. In the following weeks, Atlanta found her powers to be far stronger than ever before, and she could even leave a trail of fire as she ran. The connection was easy enough to make, yet it wasn't until two dozen other wolves had touched the stone that it was accepted as fact - the stone was a magical thing.
-----------------

In the following decades, the stone was subject to great speculation, but it was rare that anyone did more than talk. Occasionally, a wolf that had proven to be particularly heroic would be led to the stone and either gained powers when they had been born with none, or had their powers drastically increased. This was rare, and rarer still was a wolf sneaking off to the stone without permission. Such actions were punished with death.

No one knew just how vital the stone was to their lives.

One hundred years after the stone's discovery, an enormous earthquake tore the land apart. Many animals perished, including nearly three hundred wolves. The remaining members of the pack simply tried to get on with their lives. At first, nothing much seemed to have changed, save for parts of the landscape. But as time wore on, they noticed things were more difficult than they had been before. Wolves with powers had more and more trouble using their abilities and winged wolves were now flightless. Pups were no longer born with strange markings and colors. The winters were harsher, prey was less abundant.
Eventually, the great pack was forced to split. One half remained in the northern portion of the territory while the other half ventured to the south. Years passed, and the wolves' numbers dwindled away, until barely two hundred total remained.
Few wolves remembered the stone by that time. The few who ever sought to find the cave again only ever found collapsed tunnels, and in one case, a passage that ended in a sheer drop that fell farther than the light of the small crystals on the wall illuminated.

----------------------------------------

Present:

While they never attained the numbers of the old days, the two packs have done well over the past two hundred years. The wolves are leaner, but they get by. To the delight of many, the past few years have seen an increase in prey as well as milder winters. More pups survive their first year, even if some of them seem... deformed. Now and then, a newborn will show with bizarre markings or colors. Rarely, they have strange protrusions on their backs. Oftentimes, mothers end their lives before anyone can see them.
That isn't always the case, though. Some, especially if they are born to leaders, are allowed to live. Most of them grow up to be otherwise normal, but a few - and a few pups that appeared normal at birth - show powers. One might cause flowers to grow when they lie down to sleep while another may be able to know what another wolf is thinking. Rumors abound of those who can make dead bones walk again, or call down lightning from the clear blue sky.
There's also the matter of the rocks. Strange things they are. Most are barely pebbles, some are large enough to be picked up. They appear to be nothing but plain, ordinary rocks you'd find anywhere. Except if you touch them, you might become like those with powers. Develop weird markings. You go might mad, or die on the spot. Or nothing at all happens.
Who knows what it means?

--------------------------------------------

Plot:

Following several years of plenty, the northern and southern packs have started to come together. The North pack has recently crowned a new alpha, while the South pack has just lost their ruling pair- a perfect time for the two to merge. It is expected the Northern leader will soon choose a mate from the Southern tribe, and she will be aided by the Betas of both packs until that time. The two packs seek to become one, as it had been so many years ago. There is the unspoken knowledge that they could split again at any moment, but for now, most wolves simply enjoy being one family again.
This rp begins during the middle of summer, three months after the packs have joined together. The spring's pups have now started to tag along on hunts, prey is plentiful, and life is generally good.

The plot is fairly free from there on out, but there are some key events:

As mentioned in the story, strange rocks have started to appear. As readers might have guessed, they're the remains of the original stone in the cave. The stone had absorbed an enormous quantity of magic over many centuries, and was responsible for keeping the land of the wolves so bountiful, as well as the birth of animals with odd markings or powers (no, it wasn't restricted to wolves, but we're only focusing on them for now).

After two hundred years, pieces of the shattered stone have started to work their way up to the surface. This isn't entirely natural; instead, it seems to be powered by some desire for the pieces to be united again. The wolves will start finding these stones, and there will be great debate on how to use them.

Some will want to keep them and study them, to learn how they work and if they can be controlled. Others will think it best to place all the gathered stones in a single place and let nature take its course. Some might not care at all, or be intent on taking all the stones they can, in order to increase their own power.

The pack will eventually split into two again, this time divided between using the stones or hiding them away. Those in favor of hiding the stones will constantly be on a search for more, guarding their collection with all they have.

Those on the research-oriented side will do much the same, but they will also test the stones: What happens if one is ingested, or simply kept near a wolf at all times, perhaps even seeing the effects of keeping one near a pregnant wolf.

Both sides will likely try to steal from one another to increase their own store. A wolf on one side may think the other side are all insane for taking their course of action, and see them as pure enemies. Others may simply see it as a matter of opinion, and hold little to no ill will for what has happened. It all depends on your character.

This hopefully leaves plenty of room for drama/interesting events, and for players to pitch ideas for what should happen ^^ If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Rules.
1. This is literate. Good grammar and spelling is a requirement, and you must post at least four (high quality) sentences per character you're posting as. For example- 'Char looked at Pharos. Char smiled. Char walked to the prey pile and picked a deer. She ate the deer.' would result in a warning. If you just don't know what to post, then hold off on posting until you have some inspiration, okay? If needed, ask someone to try and get some interaction going with your character. This shouldn't be too difficult to follow, right? ^^

2. All of Tess' rules apply. This means absolutely no godmodding, powerplaying, Sues/Stus, autohitting, etc. You're not perfect, you're not all powerful, and you're not the ultimate fighter. Hunts can and will be dangerous, and even with powers, it will take several wolves to bring down anything bigger than a year old mountain goat. Do not go more than a page without me posting, and I will do all I can to ensure we don't leave other players in the dust (but please, give us some warning if you'll be away for a while). Don't swear, don't get too graphic when it comes to violence, and no details on mating/births. Again, this shouldn't be too difficult. ^^
2.a: This is not a romantic rp, and if you aren't in the top pairs, your characters will be SEVERELY punished if they have pups. This can and will change once the pack divides again, but we'll be a while in getting there. On that note, I do not care if you play your own mate, or if gender ratios are uneven. Just make sure you interact with others.

3. About powers: Should you choose to have a wolf with powers, keep these restrictions in mind. As usual, if you have any questions, please ask.

  • -You may have one power, and up to three abilities related to this power. While it's not required, it is highly encouraged that a wolf with two or more abilities have a drawback- e.g. Firestarters could, say, have extremely hot fur, spit fire, and (for the hell of it) burn things when they bite. However, they'd run the risk of setting anything on fire if they lie down too long, and would likely need much more food to fuel their power.
  • -Winged wolves are allowed, but they are RARE. Like... I probably won't accept more than three (aside from my own) right now. Wings/flight count as your overall power, but you are allowed to have something like... very tough wings that could double as a shield or something.
  • -If you are playing a psychic/telepathic wolf, GET PERMISSION BEFORE YOU READ SOMEONE'S MIND. This is an easily abused ability, even if it's not intentional. So if you want your character to gain information, check with others. In the case of future sight? PM me, otherwise anything you come up with will not count.
  • -No shapeshifting. Just no.

4. You can apply for any position. Unless your character simply screams 'bad fit', you'll get it. If you apply for an alpha or beta, and there is already one for your chosen pack, please make sure to contact that player to see if they're okay with it. Some might prefer to simply let a relationship develop in the rp.

5. Rules will be added, changed or removed at my discretion, as I often completely forget some.

6. When it comes to odd colors and markings, keep it sensible. No peace signs or anything like that, and PLEASE avoid neon colors/hair/things you'd see on the more poorly designed sparkle/scenedogs (I have nothing against them for personal use/other rps, but they won't show up here). I will allow for things like... spikes or bone ridges, though.

7. Do not mess with the tags on the character form. You can change the size and color all you want (within reason- no eyeblindingness or super giant/super tiny text, please). All character sheets must be approved by me before you can start playing.

9. Please, try to start out in the pack. If you must be a loner, I'll allow it for the moment, but it's just that much easier if everyone begins in the same space. If you join a pack as a loner, you will begin at Omega, and have to work your way up.

10. There is a two character limit per person for the moment. This may increase or decrease as we go. You can only have one high-ranking wolf at one time.

11. These wolves usually live for about 30 years (because magic :D), though many die of other causes (illness, injury, accident... occasional straight-up murder) before then. A wolf reaches its prime at around eight to ten, and usually retires from active pack duty at twenty six or so. A healthy wolf will begin training for their main position at a year old, and be considered an adult by about five.

12. Any usage of wolfspeak, either in your posts or in your character sheet, will be met with instant denial to participate. Seriously. This is perhaps my greatest berserk button in roleplaying, so don't push it. This is not 'advanced writing', this is not descriptive writing. It's just annoying and brings up very confusing mental images. These words should only be used in their proper context- there's no problem calling a brutal wolf a brute, but it is not a synonym for 'male'. None of these wolves are 'fae', as they are neither fairies or fuel-air explosives. (Examples of wolfspeak, put into tiny text to conserve space. List is on UrbanDictionary, because I don't want to try remembering it all on my own:

femora -- female; fae -- female; fatale -- female; brujo/brute -- male; oculars -- eyes; optics -- eyes; femme/fem -- female; mascu -- male; tassel -- tail; banner -- tail; occuli/oculi -- eye, eyes; aud -- ear; pillar -- leg; orb -- eye;crania/cranium- head; crown -- head; tiara -- head; nape -- neck; mug -- muzzle; kissers -- lips; nare -- nostril; high-wires -- ear.

Character sheets, open positions and settings will be in the next post.

Character sheets:
Here is a good wolf generator, which you can use for character pictures.
Code: Select all

Username:
Character Name:
Gender:
Age: (Youngest allowed will be three months. No new pups for a while.)
Personality: (May leave blank, but it's highly preferable that you give at least a few key points.)
History: (MAJOR NOTE: NO wolves currently have any knowledge of the stones. While they may have encountered a magical stone in their past, they won't know exactly what it was or what it might have done to them. ALSO, please keep this in mind: if a wolf has tried to kill another- even if they were successful- they themselves would be killed, or otherwise driven out from the pack. And, please remember... pups cannot live on their own. If you want to work in a 'this character was abandoned' backstory, you need to be able to do it in a believable way, and actually have it leave some lasting effects on your character.)
Appearance: (Images must be linked, and either be your own work, made on a free to use creator, or otherwise used with permission.)
Powers: (If any)
Original Pack:
Desired Rank and Position: (No guarantee you'll get it, if it's a higher one. But it's nice to know :) Position applies to Gammas/Epsilons- will you be a hunter, a scout, a warrior, or more focused on healing/pups? Please delete this section when your post is approved.)
Rank and Position: (Fill it in after your sheet is approved)
Other: (Anything that doesn't fit into the above)

Setting.

About the size of Oregon, Nevada, and California combined, the land under the wolves' rule is vast indeed.
The northern territory is primarily grassland, with a few woody areas as it transitions into the South, as well as some forest in the east. The Northern wolves tend to be leaner than their Southern counterparts, built for speed and endurance above all else. Their primary camp is around a large dip in the land near the river, where they have dug out several dens. The main prey of this pack is small animals; rabbits, wild chickens and groundhogs and such, though there are some larger marks in antelope and deer. The northern territory ends at the foot of a large mountain, where the pack has established their second main camp. Prey around the mountain is mostly made up of mountain goats, and if they drift towards the western plains, horses can very occasionally be found. There is some danger, as mountain lions also make their home in the caves while the horses and goats can put up a strong fight with their hooves and horns.

As one travels farther south, the grasslands give way to a great forest of large trees. The Southern wolves are stockier than the Northern wolves, and highly adept at finding coverage in the dense trees and sneaking up on prey. They rely on large prey like deer and moose, filling the time between hunts with whatever small prey they can find. The main camp is in a clearing, where several fallen trees have been moved to make the main dens, with other dens simply being dug into the ground. Bears are common towards the southeast, where the forest is its thickest, and often steal any kills made in that area. The Southern Pack's second main camp is towards the west, where the forest becomes thinner. Prey around there is mostly deer, and the dens are located in the caves near or behind a large waterfall (part of a small river that splits off of the main one some miles to the north.)

As the packs have started to come together over the past few months, they have been slowly rotating throughout all the main camps over the year. During the summer, they are at the mountains, fall brings them to the North Pack's plains camp farther east, winter brings them to the South Pack's forest camp, and spring sees them at the waterfall camp to the west. All in all, its about a two hundred mile (give or take a few miles) round trip.

Currently, they have just completed the move to the mountain camp.

Seasonal changes:

A fairly standard climate, with mild, wet springs, warm summers, cool, wet falls, and very cold, snowy winters.

Pack structure and ranks.

Alphas.
Usually the strongest and smartest of a pack, the Alphas are responsible for the major decisions- when to move the pack to another camp, when a major hunt should be carried out, whether or not to let a loner in, etc. Usually, if one Alpha dies, their surviving mate will be the new Alpha and expected to take on a new mate. Should they decide to step down instead, the process to find a new Alpha is very different between the packs. The North Pack holds a fight between all willing adults to determine who is the most fit to lead the pack, and the winner is declared the new Alpha. In the South Pack, the Beta pair are expected to take over as the new Alphas; with a vote being held should they decline. As the leaders of the pack, Alphas get first choice in meals, and priority breeding- i.e. they will always breed, unless conditions are too severe for even one litter of pups to survive. The Alphas of the Southern Pack have recently died in a tragic hunting accident, and the North Pack has just had a new Alpha emerge. She will pick a male from the Southern Pack, and at this time, the two packs will officially be considered one.

Alphas: Pharos, unmated female. North Pack.

Betas.
The second-in-command, and the Alpha's most trusted adviser outside of their own mate. The Beta is a consultant, offering suggestions and different approaches to an Alpha's decision. They are also the primary teachers of pups and usually more observant of the day-to-day activities, reporting any issues that might arise to the Alphas. Usually, an Alpha will pick a single Beta, though sometimes they will pick two. If the Beta choose to take a mate, their mate will be promoted to the same rank, though they may not be called on as often until the Alphas get to know them better. As the seconds in command, Betas get second choice in meals, and are permitted to breed in moderate to fair conditions.

North Pack Beta:
South Pack Beta: Jirrin, unmated female.

Gammas.
The best of the best, with one representing the hunters, scouts. healers and fighters, Gammas are the elite guard of the pack. They are up with the Alphas and Betas during a hunt, and are permitted to lead small hunts of their own if they notice food stores are running low. Gammas are the secondary teachers of pups, covering the finer details of various aspects once a pup either chooses or is assigned a task in the pack. It is not uncommon for a new Alpha to consult with the Gammas as well as their Betas, especially with the senior Gammas. Gammas are given third choice in meals, but not permitted to breed. They are allowed to pick a mate, but only so long as they swear never to produce pups. With the joining of the two packs, it has been agreed that the Northern Hunter and Scout will retain their rank, as well as the Southern Healer and Fighter.

North Pack Gammas: None yet, limit of two (Scout and Hunter).
South Pack Gammas: None yet, limit of two (Healer and Fighter).

Epsilons.
The majority of the pack, Epsilons are the scouts, the hunters, fighters, pupsitters... pretty much all the average, undistinguished wolves. They are given fourth choice at meals, with youngsters (2-7 months) getting priority feeding. An Epsilon can get promoted to Gamma if they prove to be a good hunter or what have you, or perform some great service for the pack. As with Gammas, Epsilons are forbidden from breeding, but there is nothing stopping them from taking a mate as long as they don't breed.

Epsilons: (No real limit)

Omegas.
The loners looking to join the pack, the incurably weak and deformed, and (even though it has not come up in many years), prisoners. For the most part, Omegas are forbidden to leave camp, the exception usually being when a loner is being evaluated. They are the last to eat, and occasionally must bear the frustrations of higher-ranking wolves. However, as long as they get along with others, usually have some friends in the pack, who may sneak them some extra bits of meat.

Omegas: No real limit.

Elders:
The retired members of the pack, living out their remaining years in peace. They rarely leave the camp, spending most of their time swapping stories or sharing them with young pups, offering advice to others of the pack, and simply enjoying the rewards of a life well lived. They are given the same feeding priority as the Gammas, though they technically don't have a real 'rank' any more.

Elders:

Loners:
Wolves who belong to no pack, often regarded with a great deal of suspicion by the others.

Loners:

Major Events:

The new Alpha of the Northern Pack, Pharos, is currently evaluating males from the Southern Pack in order to find a mate and properly unite the two packs as one. For the time being, she is operating with the assistance of both previous betas (or beta pairs). The pack has just completed the move to the Mountain camp, and due to signs of worsening weather, it is expected Pharos will be soon calling a hunt to stock up on supplies.

Re: Shattere Magic- Magical wolf rp, needs characters!

Postby Dr. Paine » Fri Apr 20, 2012 2:17 pm

Username: Commander Shepard
Character Name: Pharos
Gender: Female
Age: 6 years.
Personality: Rarely one to fight when it is unnecessary, Pharos is determined to lead the pack through peace and negotiation. Some have called her a coward, too inexperienced to properly lead, especially with the recent merging of the packs. She often turns to her betas for guidance, and is deeply afraid that her largely pacifist ways will eventually lead to a schism. She hopes to find a male from the Southern pack who can provide some balance, and has the willingness to fight where she might usually step down.
History:
Youngest in the only litter of the old Northern Betas, Paragon and Renegade, Pharos and her siblings enjoyed a fairly comfortable life through their first year. They were well out of the nursery den when an accident struck- a fire swept through the mountain camp, sparked by a summer storm, and both Paragon and Renegade perished trying to lead the others to safety.
Pharos was deeply saddened by this, but she could not let it interfere with her duties. She was in training to be a scout, and often spent most of her days patrolling the North pack's territory. At this time, both packs were coming into contact more and more frequently, and she often saw fights between the two's patrols. Pharos hated this, and whenever she came into contact with Southern patrols, she did all she could to simply talk them down.
She was delighted to see this become the general attitude as time went on, and by the time she was five years old, Pharos had been promoted to Gamma Scout. It was during this time that talks began between the Alphas of the two packs, talk of merging the packs into one, as they once used to be. Sadly, the elderly Northern Alphas passed away only just after the decision was made final. While the Southern pack began their journey to join the Northern pack's territory, Pharos participated in the ritual fight for title of Northern Alpha.
To the surprise of many, Pharos emerged victorious, though rather badly injured, and she had to spend several days recovering before properly taking leadership. It was Pharos who oversaw the first transition between the two packs, and she now has the duty of finding a proper mate in order to make it final.
Appearance: Here.
Powers:
  • Wings.
  • Abilities-
  • Flight: Between the size of her wings and her natural magic, Pharos is capable of flight. She can fly for a fairly long period of time (about four hours), with a maximum speed of about 20 miles an hour. She can't carry much weight when she flies though, anything larger than a rabbit will severely weigh her down.
  • Shield: Her wings are made of a tough leathery hide, allowing them to repel most bites and claws from a standard wolf. They can't quite completely shield her, though, but they do a fairly good job of it.

While her wings are quite useful, they can get a bit heavy on the ground, and be easy grab points for an opponent. She has, over the years, learned to use her wings to fight as well, but it depends on the fight.
Original Pack: North
Rank and Position: Alpha Female.
Other: Has one older sister, who is free to play- just ask me first (and you can ignore the name xD). The glow around Pharos, and her sister, are a trait passed down from their father, who had some degree of light manipulation. This glow isn't too bad for Pharos during the day, but can be a double-edged sword by night: while she is visible to her pack, she is also highly visible to prey and predators.

Gender:
Female
Age:
9 years old
Personality:
Her personality is easily altered by her surroundings, but mainly leaning towards bitter and doesn't trust anyone. It's a rare occasion for her to be happy. She doesn't really look into anything accept fighting, so that is her main skill. She is really no good at hunting or running away from battle.
History:
She was abandoned at a young age, around one year old, so she learned to fend for herself after time. Since she observed a lot of it from the shadows, fighting seemed to be the most important part of living by yourself, so she taught herself. She never really got good at hunting, but she did learn to scavenge. Scavenging for food made standing up in battle and defending territory a habit, so she almost never runs from thing, which can be bad.

She is now curious to what life would be like without scavenging for scraps and fending only for yourself, hence the reason she joined a pack. This is currently where her history is, I will update it as we go.
Appearance:

Original Pack:
She was a loner
Desired Rank and Position:
Omega, since she just joined after being a loner

(Eh... under consideration. She doesn't seem to have anything really... promising or interesting to her. You may also want to remove the use of 'bipolar' there, unless there's legitimate bipolar disorder present. Intelligent beings can have more than one facet to their personality and it be completely normal ;)

Some questions I'd like to see answered- why was she abandoned? I can see it being because of the odd markings, or because she was born to lower-rank parents who were forbidden to breed, but that leads to the next question- When was she abandoned? If it was at a very young age, then frankly, she should be dead. A lone pup isn't going to survive. If it was when she was over a year old, why did they wait that long? There would be no reason for an alpha or beta to abandon their offspring like that, once it was clear they were otherwise normal.

ETA: Better, but you still need to explain why she was abandoned, and it actually be for a good reason and have it really effect her character, rather than just have it be some tacked-on thing.)

Character Name: Jirrin
Gender: Female
Age: Two years of age, drawing closer to three.
Personality:
Rash, unpredictable, carelessly emotionless and not to mention rude. Jirrin is nothing far from a cold figure of distrust, referring to revenge instead of cooperation and turning every word you speak against you, there's little to like about her. Don't get me wrong, she comes across as shy and distant at first impressions, and some younger than her admire her for cold yet overpowering personality, but in her inner she never lets anything go, no matter how big or small the problem. Sly, cool headed and extremely indirect, she plays on words and messes with feelings, enjoying the use of sarcasm speech. There's a hint of sadism in her since she was still a young whelp and using her cruel mind as a weapon is something she has come to be very familiar with and uses without a flaw, her bitter and vividly separated personality striking fear and respect into the weak. As said before, she's cold and thoughtless of others. Along with the attitude towards the opposing individual, Jirrin has little respect for her self. She does as she feels with little regard to her own well being, abusing her self to the point where it will cause fights and dangers without consideration for the consequence. A result for hoe little she thinks she is worth. Witty and bad tempered adding to the mix.. along with her favourite game of scaring kids and adults alike.. She's the biggest hand of trouble to deal with, and not the most wanted pack member in the least. However as much as some hate to admit it, she is an incredibly fast and furious fighter, one that is valuable keeping around.. if you can deal with the attitude. Beneath the cold hard shell of hate and silence, Jirrin hold a true and loyal heart.. Making it, once reached, a valuable asset to have on you side. Though she is on every level extreme, on a second glance she's just looking for a place that accepts her for her silent, determined yet lonely and longing self. If she where to ever find something precious to her, Jirrin would only willingly give her life to protect that one thing, in her own irrational, insane way. Let come what it will, she is a wolf open to change in her life.. some just cant see that in her, clouded by there own hate or distrust. If anything, her most distinct characteristic, would be to be uncharacteristic.

History:
Born to a litter of six, a large number of pups to be born late in spring, Jirrin found herself cast out and pushed aside by her sibling from very early on. Before eyes where even open she was almost starved as her brothers and sister would not let her feed or claim much attention from there mother. It was purely a survival instinct that her siblings where displaying, but to young and naive to understand that life is rough, Jirrin grew up hating them from the moment she first gained vision.. So these where the rats that where feeding off her suffering. As she grew and learnt, she would often sit aside from her family, parting herself from her mother and siblings at such an early age. The affect would trouble her later in life, but at the time, destroying her emotions towards them seamed like the better thing to do. As the pups were allowed out of the den soon enough, Jirrin spent most of her time alone. While her sister and brothers played and chattered amongst themselves, speaking of rumoured powerful wolves and acting as if they where special in some way, the smallest of the litter sat and let her eyes fallow the cracks in the dusted clay ground that formed a clearing before the den, counting leaves or licking her spotted pelt clean. Naturally her mother worried occasionally, but there was little she could say to help Jirrin understand, for she would stand and slink away from anyone that approached her. Though she knew how to speak, she never would.

In time she grew a little closer to her only sister, Karin, though only as close as to walk by her wordlessly or listen to her troubles when she needed. She never once spoke, never looked any of them in the eyes. Her mother, giving up, also grew cold towards young Jirrin, who was now almost 9 months of age. Training she enjoyed, and though small in size she fought with great speed and vicious bite, an aggressive yet promising edge to her movements and strategy. At last there was something she was not only good, but great at, a cut above the rest of her brothers and sister. It was easy to see that she soon placed heart and soul into training to fight, one often found her racing or practising late into the hours of day by herself.. Never would she want help, only when Karin offered would she accept. She blossomed in her talent, learning fast and growing strong, for what she lacked in social ability, she wished to make up for in combat. To protect her pack, was that not worth the struggle? Yes, she forgave them all.. By the time her first year came to pass, she watched as others laughed and talked with friends, where ranked in the pack and some even claiming a mate. But Jirrin refused to take a place in the pack and is social ladder, working herself harder as she thought herself to weak to become a full member of the pack yet.

Things had looked brighter for Jirrin then, had the unfortunate events that followed never happened. Late in the days of summer she and Karin paced the borders of the territory, her sister always one step ahead as she gossiped on about life as she usually did. He stride always that much ahead of Jirrin's, her head held that much higher than Jirrin's, her teeth would bare did Jirrin dare to step to far ahead. Like a mother minding a pup not to step out of line, for it was weak and helpless. And so Jirrin had learned to hate in silence.. to hate and let it fester inside.
That evening, panting as she crashed through into the pack home, Jirrin had returned alone. Eyes wide with fear, her fur matted and untidy looking as she spoke out loud the them all for the first time. She spoke to fast at first, her words over lapping each other as she tried to explain. Karin. Karin, dead. The image of the wrangled body burnt into her mind. Slowly, after regaining herself, she explained what had happened. The tragedy. Karin had fallen down the jagged slope casting down into the river, she had only been trying to look down into the chasm, but her paws had slipped. Jirrin had had no time to save her.. ..
Karins body was found only a few days later, and her mother grieved over her daughter for a long time. For Karrin had been the only real daughter she had had, Jarrin had never been there to mother over. Jarrin had refused her mothers love after all.

Life had changed, and as the seasons nearing to her second year had grown colder so had Jirrins heart. Little by little had she begun to accept the secrets that she carried within her, no longer denying herself of the truth, of the crimes of her teeth and claws. She had changed. Others said it was because of her grief that she wished to take her sister place. Some believed it was because she had finally learned how cruel the world could be. Others yet again said that she blamed herself for her sisters death. If only they had known. Yes, how little they knew.. how vulnerable they where.. Jirrin hated them all.

Appearance: Jirrin

Powers:
Dreamer.
Refered to also as: Sleepwalker, Dream-Walker, Sleeper.
Jirrin can invade the world of another wolf's dreams when she herself falls into sleep, though some dreams are blocked from her path for various reasons. This is just a matter of how strong or weak the wolf she is trying to contact is emotionally. On rare occasions she can be able to trance wolves into a soft, short sleep in order to reach them without interruption. The fall-back of having this power would mean that Jirrin, if she has been wondering in others dreams or such, would wake up un-refreshed and tired, sometimes more so even than when she went to sleep in the first place. Depending on what occurred in the dream, her own or others, she could even be affected with bodily wounds such as scaring, strained muscles and cuts and torn flesh.

Original Pack: South.

Rank and Position: Southern Beta.

Other: Her eyes, as I think it is a little hard to tell on the image of her, are dark grey-silver. The pupil on the other hand is a lime coloured green and perhaps more cat eye shaped than round.
