Fishflight
female // 43 moons // warrior // tagged; Manglepaw

"Yes, we can leave straight away," Fishflight promised, rising to her paws and giving a quick shake to get rid of any debris from the forest floor that might be clinging to her thick pelt. Young cats were always so full of energy, jumping at any opportunity they could get, and her apprentice seemed the most eager of all. It made the older warrior a bit giddy as well, and as she started off toward the camp exit, she briefly remembered when her own mentor took her out hunting for the first time. She'd done awfully, but that hadn't made it any less exciting, and she hoped that this would be a fond memory for young Manglepaw in the future. Being a mentor was a lot better than she'd expected it to be, and as the two cats made their way into the forest, Fishflight's spirit was soaring.
It didn't take long before they reached a small clearing, close enough to camp that they could quickly return if anything happened, but secluded enough for the prey to feel safe coming out in the open, foraging for food. Halting just inside the shade of the trees that surrounded the field, Fishflight calmly sat down, signaling with her tail for her apprentice to do the same. "Now, I'll need you to be very quiet," she said softly, gaze darting from the field to her companion and back again. "There is plenty of prey out that you should be able to catch something fairly soon; but remember, if you startle them, it might take a while before they dare come back. Be slow, and be certain," she told Manglepaw, echoing the words of her own mentor many moons ago. "Please go whenever you're ready, and remember to use your tail for balance, like you did with the leaf, alright?" This was all the advice she had to give, for the time being, and she didn’t think much more was necessary. She had the fullest faith in her apprentice, and could hardly wait to see the young cat successfully catch her first prey.
