The medicine hollow looked a lot busier than she was used to seeing. Approaching it she immediately noted their Leader and a guilty looking apprentice off to one side, the dappled body of Cherrynose and his brighter counterpart Berryfall. The smell of blood teased her nostrils and soon her eyes were on the ragged looking Howlfur. “O-oh… did I come at a bad time…?” She suspected she had as the cats busied themselves with their patients and decided she’d wait until the commotion had died down. “I’ll just come back later,” Quickly retreating she settled for getting Ashenwing and herself breakfast if she couldn’t ask any of the medicine cats for anything for the queen’s discomfort. The fresh-kill pile wasn’t particularly bad today, thank StarClan and she was able to find a vole, no rabbits sadly but she’d take what she could get. Mooncatcher took a mouse for herself, jostling the two meals as best she could and slipping back into the Nursery with a sheepish smile. “It’s busy over in the medicine hollow this morning. Howlfur looks like he got torn up pretty bad.” she gossiped softly.

We’re short on oak leaves. He’d be sure to assign Acornpaw to the task. If she could harvest materials half as well as she could talk they’d be prepared for an invasion. Giving a quick look at the young she-cat he tried to temper his… well, temper. “We need oak leaves and tansy for you,” he paused, giving Goldenstar a pointed look, “patient. Take someone with you to collect them and try to be back before sunhigh.” Cherrynose didn’t particularly care who she took with her just as long as she was no longer underfoot and was making herself useful. And if he’d been a little bit spiteful in asking for the tansy when A. they had some and he was discreetly hiding them with his tail and B. knew that tansy grew on the opposite end of the territory from where the oak trees grew – meaning she’d never make it back before noon, then nobody called him out on it.
With punishment satisfactorily dispensed, the he resumed his watch over Howlfur. His story seemed farfetched but his duty wasn’t to question the validity of EagleClan’s warriors. He’d leave that to Goldenstar. “Berryfall would you pass me the catchweed and a few marigold petals. His side is a mess.” Leaning his face toward the tear in Howlfur’s side he gingerly lapped at it, sectioning away fur from the angry looking wound, a scoff on his lips. “I was not made a warrior because I was not assigned to one.” He murmured blandly between licks. “All the better I wasn’t or you might’ve been stuck with Acornpaw, or worse Berryfall.” there was a smirk in his voice and a hint of his familiar ill-natured playfulness. Besides the obvious he was much happier here at camp instead of getting involved in the muddied waters of border squabbles.

Acornpaw-

The she cat nods and slips out of the den. She gives a small sigh as she glances around to find a warrior to take with her. "Great going Acornpaw... just had to make a mistake..." she mutters.

She smirked and passed him the catchweed and the few golden marigold petals. "Yeah, because this tom could do so much better." She looked over to where Acornpaw once sat. "Do you know how Ashenwing is doing? I haven't checked on her today." She turned to the herbs storage. "Oak leaves?" She muttered quietly and stole a sly glance at Cherrynose.

"Oh..." She felt herself grow a little small. "I was going to check on her before I left to gather oak leaves and tansy" she mews. She had to recover somehow and she hoped it was believable.

"It's fine. I was simply wondering." She stepped over to where Cherrynose was looking at Howlfur. "Meadowclan?" She muttered again,
then figured she could think about it later. Burnet, just in case. Burdock root, where is that?

The Toyger tom let out a chuckle, shaking his head lightly. He didn't feel so irritated anymore, and Cherrynose's abrupt sense of humor made him let out a chuckle, but he kept it short. If he chuckled to hard, he'd end up making the bleeding on his side worse. He rolled his eyes at what Berryfall said, his ears flicking. "Heh, good point." He snickered, flicking his tail lightly. Glancing over to Berryfall, he twitched and ear and almost tilted his head in curiosity, but decided against it. He would probably get a tongue lash by Cherrynose if he said anything smart, and he had just recovered from his foul and irritated mood. When the Medic Tom finished, he dipped his head to both of them, grinning. "Thanks. I'll check back tomorrow, or by nightfall, to see if these need to get replaced." He flicked his tail, then walked out the den, his ears keeping alert.

Scraping up the soft golden petals into his mouth, Cherrnose set about grinding them into a proper poultice and not that yellow slop Berryfall had produced. The tom’s lip twitched in a grin he refused to let free but he chuckled all the same. “Of course I would be better.” he puffed, “I do recall seeing you sharing tongues with Goldclaw while Howlfur bled to death.” A rough tongue coated in the now petal-paste was applied to the warrior’s wounds, even as his stern gaze flicked to the she-cat with a faintly sadistic snicker. It seemed he’d been found out, but she also hadn’t stopped him to that made her a partner-in-crime whether he wanted one or not.
Making sure to cover the wound with the catchweed to keep the poultice in place, Cherrynose almost jumped back as the warrior got to his paws and tried to walk out. Emphasis on tried. The bengal was quickly in front of him with those long, easy strides of his, arching a brow at Howlfur. “Unless you plan on going sleeping away the day I would advise that you lay back down.” This, of course, normally didn’t go over well. Warriors, EagleClan Warriors especially, were a thick-headed lot. All so eager to please, for the glory of the clan and whatever other drivel they’d come up with, ready to charge off into the event. “As Medicine cat,” one of them, he amended internally, “I’d suggest committing yourself to a full day of rest, which means no duties, no leaving camp.” His slanted eyes had taken on their normal stern quality, daring him to make a fuss. “I’ll not have you undo all our efforts because you decided to take a stroll in the wood.” With his message announced to the ears of all, Cherrynose stepped out of the way with a curl in his tail. "Come tomorrow so we can check on your progress."

She laughed. "Sorry, Goldclaw had a cut pad and Howlfur hadn't come to me yet. Fact is, I didn't notice him. What did Mooncatcher want? Hmm, I'll have to ask her about that." She looked around the den. Her paws quickly swept the mossy mess of her nest into a corner, thinking she would just get more moss later. She plucked away a dead ivy vine then stood back to admire the den.

She purred "thank you" before started to eat the vole while listening to Mooncatcher's talk. She wondered what she meant by Howlfur got torn up but decided not to ask. who by? she thought as she finished the vole.

Goldclaw nodded. "Yes, I will. Thank you." he turned away from the medicine den and cursed silently as he saw a small trail of blood from where he had put his paw down on his way to the medicine cat den. Shouldn't have walked on it, he thought. never mind, maybe it will rain again this moonrise and then it'll be washed away.

Darkears woke up and yawned. He stretched and then padded out of the warriors den, heading straight to the fresh-kill pile. He grabbed a squirrel, though he knew that Ashenwing preferred voles or rabbits to eat, he didn't see either on the pile. He then brought the squirrel to the nursery and poked his head in. "Ashenwing?" he asked before noticing that Moonwatcher was there. "Oh, um,
I just brought you a squirrel but if you're talking I can just leave it here..."
