whiteclaw lays in a sunny spot in the clearing, warming himself up in the sun. his white flank rose and fell silently as he breathed,
and the breeze rustled the leaves on the trees around him. a patch of daisies crew near his tail, blooming at this time of year. one of the great things about being in meadowclan was the beautiful scenery and weather, and it didn't matter whether it was greenleaf or leaf-bare.

Honeystar stood up as the gathering later drifted onto the sea of her thoughts. Leaving Adderclaw, she looked for Thistleheart. Spiritpaw should come to the gathering at moonhigh, she thought, seeing the apprentice leaving camp. Following him, she caught up and mewed, "Hey, Spiritpaw. How are you? Is the hunting well?" She flicked her tail and scented the air, catching a whif of shrew.

Spiritpaw turned his attention to Honeystar as she padded up beside him. He dipped his head in respect but had a guarded look on his face. "I am alright. I haven't been out hunting today as of yet, but if the hunting is anything like yesterday, the clan will end up turning fat before leaf-bare," he replied, a humorous note in his voice. His manner of speaking was almost always formal sounding, and his words tended to be accented differently than the other cats, showing how he wasn't from around the clan.

the leader tensed her muscles and pounced on the vole, killing it swiftly with one bite on it's neck. padding back to Spiritpaw she dropped it and shrugged. "It seems like it is good, but we had better not get fat," she teased, "or there's no way we could beat anyone, even in training." she twitched her whiskers, loooking for somewhere to bury her catch. bounding over to a nearby birch, she buried it in its roots to bring back to camp later.

Spiritpaw nodded and stayed silent. He didn't feel the need to vocally respond, knowing that Honeystar would continue to talk. That's how most cats were. He watched her bury the cold and hear other prey noises, but he didn't go after any for a moment, as he tried to figure out what was where. After a minute, he detected a mouse nearby and silently went after it. Soon there was a mouse buried with Honeystar's vole and he watched the leader to see if she would say anything.

honeystar smiled. she twitched the tip of her tail and glanced around. "Good catch," she mewed to Spiritpaw. "...I want you to come to the gathering this moonhigh," she added. "You'll enjoy it!" she flickered her eyes from Spiritpaw to the trees ahead. she heard a rustle and saw the grasses moving ahead. dropping into a hunting crouch, she got ready to stalk it. quickly she pounced and landed silently, holding a struggling bird under her paw. feathers flew everywhere, and she killed it with a nip on the back of its neck. giving thanks to starclan for its life, she hurried back to Spiritpaw with the bird in her jaws.

Spiritpaw watched his leader for a moment, waiting for her to come back before he answered. "What is the point of gatherings?" he asked, a gleam in his icy blue eyes. He had a feeling that it had something to do with the "StarClan" that his clanmates talked about. As much as he had tried to assimilate into the life of the clan, he still didn't understand why everything circled around to this StarClan that every cat seemed to know about. As far as he knew, there was only three clans in the area.

honeystar buried the bird with the other prey. Perhaps that'll be enough on this hunt, she thoguht before replying to Spiritpaw.
"Well, it's where all the clans - meadowclan, wolfclan, eagleclan, and starclan - and all the clans tell the other clans what's been happening. and the stars listen too, i guess. there's a truce on, and nobody fights." she paused. "I was going to tell you something i would tell the other clans, but all i can think of is that the prey is running well." she glanced at the birch tree where their catches were buried. "Anyway, I want you to come. I think you'll enjoy it," she insisted.

Spiritpaw flicked an ear, his eyes growing cool and his expression guarded. "StarClan huh?" he paused for a moment, tilting his head towards the sky, his blue eyes reflecting the clouds and sky. "There are three clans around here. Why does everyone speak of this mystical StarClan, and where are they?" He tilted his head back to look at Honeystar and under the cold, guarded look, there was a flash of curiosity.
