"Thank you. I'll have to take Echostorm." His mind drifted to when hte gray tom had first returned. Kitewing had immediately gone back to him, despite her saying that she loved him. He had retaliated by going off with Ravnflight and Scarlettshade. Now he had a gut feeling that something had happened after that, but he wasn't sure what. But it had been wrong. He had acted out of anger. He shook himself, and looked at Whispertail's face. "Don't be worried about your kits. Seapaw is here to help you, and I'm sure that some of the queens will help."

Whisper cocked her head. "Seapaw isn't going with you? But what if they're hurt and need to be treated over there? We'll be alright over here." There seemed to be something else on his mind before he had spoken, but she wasn't sure whether or not to ask... She did anyway, although she was careful about it. After all, he was her leader. "Blackstar...? Is there anything you'd like to share? Keeping things to yourself can be painful in the end." It's not like she'd think any differently of him, nor tell anyone.

"I'd rather she stayed here. I can't have her getting injured. She is our future medicine cat, and with Brackenfrost being so old, I'm afraid he might die soon." As she asked about his feelings, the tom hung his head so his eyes wern't visable. "You really don't want to know. Honestly, you don't. It's wrong on so many levels, and the guilt is tearing me in half. I don't want anyone else to feel that."

Whisper nodded slowly, smiling weakly. "I understand." What would they do if both medicine cats died? That would be a disaster for the two clans. Watching as he hung his head, she cocked her own, not quite sure how to respond to what he had said. What had he done that was making him so guilty? "You can trust me. It's easier if you share it with someone you trust. Although if you want to wait for Kitewing when she returns then I understand. She is your mate after all." He should be able to trust her with the information, right?

"I could never tell Kitewing," He muttered, but raised his head. "You're right. I can trust you," The dark-furred tom took a deep breath, kneding the ground with his paws. "When Echostorm returned, Kitewing went off with him.I saw them. They were acting like they were mates, which I know they once were, but she's told me she loves me now, not.... not him. It was anger, frustration and jealousy that drove me." He couldn't go on. Maybe Whispertail would catch on.That would stop him having to explain.

Whisper cocked her head, not quite understanding what he meant, although she could imagine how he must have been feeling. "What did you do?" Acting as sympathetic as she could without actually understanding what he was talking about. Usually she would have been able to guess, but she was tired from playing with the kits, feeding them, and moving around with her rather large belly. He seemed not to want to explain...

He screwed up his face before continuing. "Whispertail, don't judge me for what I did. I wasn't thinking straight....." He closed his eyes. "I got with Ravenflight and Scalettshade. Not offically, only for the few moments..... I wanted to make Kitewing angry, make her feel how I felt when she went of with Echostorm. I wanted to make her feel like her heart was being ripped out of her chest...." He trailed off, feeling worse than before.

Cocking her head in confusion at him as he started to speak, she gasped as she'd realised what he had actually done. "Oh... Now I can understand why you're feeling so guilty..." That was such a big secret to keep, but she'd do it for Blackstar. Not as her leader but as her friend. "You know Kitewing isn't going to like that... Are they both...?" She didn't want to continue, what he had done was horrible, but she had promised to keep it a secret.

"I have no idea. If they are......." Great StarClan, if they were both going to have kits, he was screwed. What if they looked like him? With Ravenflight, maybe he could hide it, but with Scarlettshade... Right now, all Blackstar wanted to do was die. Even if it meant dying eight times and leaving the Clan without a leader. But he couldn't do that. No, he had to stay strong in the wake of the attack.

A dark shadow moved back and forth in the shaded overhang at the camp emtrence. Echostorm's body moves quickly, pacing the entrence to no end. Where was blackstar? The leader was just prolonging their wait! He needed to move now. There was no excuse.
