Yara looked back at Bullet, obvious pain in his eyes. "Ink was like a son to me. I knew his father, was great friends with him, saved him many times, then when InkJR was born, because Ink was dead... I took up the role of his protector. But we all know how well a job I did..." He looked away, keeping his throat on show to Shade.

Shade apologized and sank his teeth into Yara's windpipe, "You really will let me kill you when your mate and pups live?"

"Um...No, I don't really know how well a job you did actually. Have you seen Akemi, Mia and Mars?" Bullet barked, oblivious to Shade's actions.

[Solanum]

Yara smiled at Shade, laughing warmly. "You wouldn't kill me. Besides, if I got close to death, I would start to fight back. And that is not what a little guy like you is looking for..." He laid down, keeping his head lifted so as to not crush Shade under his weight.

As he spoke, Mia and Mars rolled into him, laughing loudly. They got up and stumbled around, very dizzy from their roll down the hill. "Shade, come play with us!"

"Oh hi Mia and Mars!" Bullet yapped. "Where's Akemi?"

"I'll make you pay! Maybe not now. But I will," Shade snarled, letting go. He would never trust Yara, despite his actions. His eyes showed how much he loved his "brother".

Yara looked away from Shade, his eyes cold and lifeless... Ink had been his best friend... And he had to kill him. He looked at Shade then at Bullet. "I have no idea. Shade, do you know where Akemi is?"

Willow came back. Barti ran up to her. "These bandages are itchy. Can you take them off?"

Willow nodded and unwrapped Barti's head, leg, and torso. He smiled and ran off to see if he had any scars. When he saw himself, he screamed shrilly, almost making his own ears bleed.

Karrie pricked her ears and ran to Barti. "What's wrong?" she asked.

Barti whipped around, snarling furiously. The eye that had been attacked by the bear was no longer there, it was just an empty socket. His back right leg was twisted and ugly. Scars covered his sides. "This is your fault!" he screamed. "IF you had watched and protected me, like a real mother, this never would have happened!" He pushed past Karrie and ran into the bush.

Shade saw a horribly scarred pup run by. "BARTI?!" he yelled, running after his brother in law.

Barti tried to keep running, but his twisted leg hit the ground at the wrong angle, and he ended up tumbling into a thornbush.
