“Goodnight ma.” Lightkit said. When she heard her sister she gave a quick nod. The sooner they found him, the sooner their mom would be happy again, and them as well.

Smokefur helped Darkheart fight the dog. “You just had to go and try to hurt one of our apprentices. He’s such a nice cat and now it’s your fault if anything happens to him! Let’s see how you like being seriously wounded!” She spat before clawing at one of its eyes. She hated seeing Darkheart upset. And she hated seeing Darkpaw suffer. She hoped he would live.

Mousewhisker began to pad close to camp, her eyes and ears alert. She stopped a moment, turned to look at Junebug. "Do you hear that?"
She meowed, as the fight with the dogs could be heard.

and after a moment of hesitation, she left the den.

Lightkit got up quietly so she didn’t wake her mother. She then made her way to Slatekit. “This is going to be fun and we will probably get in trouble, but if we find dad maybe Mom won’t be too upset with us.” She whispered. “Dad isn’t a clan cat. So it’s going to be a bit hard finding him. But he has to be in the forest somewhere. Just remember what Mom said. He’s a black cat named Midnight. At least we will know him when we find him.” She added, walking outside.

“What will it take to get you dumb dogs to back off! Don’t you know when your beat?” Smokefur spat attacking the dog. Her claws sank deep into the fur as she started scratching the nose and eyes. She even managed to bite on one of its ears.
