• “I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it” •

Sara finally lost her consciousness, and was put inside a room, where X-rays‘ were taken and doctors were talking quietly amongst themselves. This was no regular injury. This was very serious. Sara was content in her dreams, ignoring the prodding of Doctor‘s tools on her leg. Had they given her a medicine or drug to make her feel like this. She couldn‘t remember, everything was fuzzy right now, so she just chose to stay in safe dreamland.


Marco Jonathon

• “Life beats down and crushes the soul, but art reminds you that you have one” •

Marco‘s eyes widened and sat beside Destiny. He emptied all of the bad thoughts out, repeating positive things like, Sara will be okay, in his mind. He barely believed his own words though. He reached out for Destiny’s hand, needing some sort of comfort right now.

Lotti (:

• “Despite the scars I have, both visible and unseen, I still am happy. That is something everyone should be.” •

Lotti didn‘t explain, just shook her head. “Just follow me, I‘ll explain in the cab“ She rushed them outside, determined to get to the hospital as fast as possible. She opened the door to the cab, and motioned for the kids to get their butts inside.

◘ Destiny Hope Hill◘
"I'm not scared, I'll never be scared. So don't pity me."

Destiny held Marco's hand in hers. Knowing he needed the comforting. She smiled at him, "She'll be fine." She said softly, nodding. It was just a leg, not a vital organ. She nodded again, "It's just a leg, it's just a break." She said reassuringly to him, squeezing his hand with hers.

Avalon got into the cab last, slipping into the seat, clutching her notebook to her chest. What was going on? She shook her head and swallowed. Uncomfortably. She had a bad enough day as it was. Now something bad had happened, she could just tell. Why wouldn't the world just give her a single break?

Sara had woken after a long time, she wondered how long she had been asleep. She felt dizzy, too. She again noticed she could not feel anything in her broken leg, that was now in a cast. The doctors looked at her with sad eyes. “What?” She asked, trying to stand up, but couldn‘t move that darn leg. One doctor cleared his throat. “Dear, your leg is not just broken… It‘s been paralyzed”

Sara’s throat went dry and she stared at the leg, no feeling whatsoever. “Paralyzed” She repeated the horrible word. “So… “ She felt numb, and not just in her leg. “After the cast is off, you might never be able to walk with that leg again. Maybe with some physical therapy, but it’s unlikely” He frowned.

“Oh“ was all she replied, not letting the tears escape her eyes.. The doctor nodded sympathetically, and cleared his throat again. “I’ll go tell your friends, they can come in”. Sara nodded, and pulled the cold bed sheets over her head, letting the tears fall.


Marco Jonathon

“But.. What if she looses it, or-” Marco stopped to turn to Lotti who had walked in, with everyone else. “Hi” He waved sadly at the brunette girl. “Were waiting. We’ve been waiting for an awfully long time” He nodded.

Lotti (:

• “Despite the scars I have, both visible and unseen, I still am happy. That is something everyone should be.” •

Lotti had told the cab driver the directions, and he stopped soon enough in front of a small hospital. “Thanks” She muttered, handing him a twenty. She quickly opened the door to the cab, and walked quickly through the doors of the hospital. Her eyes scanned the area, then she walked to the waiting room. “There, you are!” She squeaked. Lotti was about to say something else, but was cut off by the doctor, who did not even try to smile. “Kids… You’re friends broken leg.. Well, it was a bit more complicated than usual. It’s still a broken leg, and needs to be in that cast, but once the cast is removed, she will not be able to walk with it. It has been paralyzed”

Lotti blinked confusedly. Paralyzed and Sara weren’t words you should mix together. Sara didn’t like being still, and how would she hold up being paralyzed in one leg? “Doctor, will she ever be able to walk again?”

The doctor sighed. “There is the smallest chance, but once again, Like I told miss Sara, that is unlikely. Crutches are not an option, because she can not move her leg, Physical therapy could possibly reverse it, and if that does not succeed, she will be in a wheel chair the rest of her life.

And suddenly, Lotti hated him, she hated all the doctors in the world at the moment. “So you’re just giving up on her?!” she exploded at him, eyes narrowing. “Not even going to try? She’s just doomed to a life of immobilization?!”

The doctor sighed again. “We’re not giving up, there’s not much even we can do” He said simply. “Come, I’ve already told her the news, but she needs you all with her, she didn’t take it so good” He turned and led them to Sara’s room.

Lotti grumbled and followed, along with an eager Marco.

"Mock me all you want, beat me down. One day, I'll be stronger."

Luke followed Marco, wondering how Sara was going to cope with this. Parlyzed leg... how would that work out for her? He swallowed hard and walked into the room the doctor was leading them into. Gave a big smile to Sara and walked over to her. Took her handl Squeezed it just like he had when she was laying on the football field.

"I'm not scared, I'll never be scared. So don't pity me."

Destiny followed all of them, though once they got into the room she stayed off to the side. Keeping her distance. Letting them talk. She thought about her day, and actually managed a smile when she thought of Marco terrifying Delilah and Christian, the little puppy.

Avalon was about to follow, when she realized the little girls weren't coming. Mainly on the account of Bella, who had her arms crossed over her chest. Kept saying she wanted to see Bubby. Wasn't going to leave without that. Then Jason sighed, and looked at the other big kids, Zane, Mason and her in the waiting room still. "I'll stay with them, you guys go." Avalon nodded her thanks and followed the others, Zane and Mason following her.

"On the outside I'm tough, but on the inside I'm dying."

Jason sat right in front of Bella and took her hand. Ready to reveal something. "I have a sister, you know. About your age," he started. "Or at least she was last time I saw her. She's probably," he rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, "Twelve now. I was eight last time I got to see her." He paused, preparing himself. "Of course it's Mason's sister too." He swallowed. "I still remember her smile, you know. And her laugh. So light and beautiful." Cut to the chase, he told himself. "My point is that even though I haven't seen her in forever... she's still here. In my heart, ya know? And evan if you don't see your brother again-and I'm sure you will- you'll always remember him."

"I'm little, yeah, that doesn't mean I don't know what's going on."

Lilly and Bella listened to the story, then Bella nodded and smiled. Jason was right, she would always remember her Bubby. But she still wanted to see him. "Can you still drive me to see him?" Bella watched his face, he seemed to be thinking. He mumbled to himself and finally nodded. "Yeah, yeah I will." Jason said to Bella, then picked her up and took Lilly's hand. Bella didn't know how they were getting there. But they were going.

Okay, it’s official. Luke’s hair is impossible to draw! xD Every time I do, it turns out too… Feminine.

Sara Michelle

Sara’s eyes didn’t waver from her leg., wishing she could move it, but it was just stuck there, lying on a pillow in a stupid pink cast. She felt saddened by the fact that she was now paralyzed. Now she would be stuck in a wheelchair all her stinking life. When Marco left, she felt even more depressed. She wasn’t a monster or anything, It was just a leg. she was still the same Sara, right?!

“I want to go.. Away” Sara said. She noticed how she almost said home. I want to go home . what would be home, anyway? Home, home, the house she used to live in with her parents? No. That house was sold, a happy family probably living there right this moment. The orphanage, then? Hell no.

Then what was home? She pondered that for awhile. Home is where the heart is. “Where’s my heart?” Sara asked aloud, forgetting about her friends being in the room with her.




Marco Jonathon

Marco lifted an eyebrow at the leg, it was in a cast and he knew she couldn‘t move it. He stood by Destiny, suddenly not wanting to be in this room. “I’m going back” He murmured and slipped out the door, almost bumping into a doctor. “Sorry” He muttered to the woman, and walked slowly back to the waiting room with the others. What preoccupied his thoughts most was the future. He wanted to think everything would be okay, but he extremely doubted that. Nothing was ever okay when it came to this group of kids. Did fate not want them to be happy?

Lotti (:

• “Despite the scars I have, both visible and unseen, I still am happy. That is something everyone should be.” •

Lotti shifted uncomfortably, she probably should of stayed in the waiting room, the atmosphere in the room was crushing. “I.. I should probably make sure Marco get’s to the waiting room alright”. She grinned weakly and quickly ran out of the room. That was too awkward for comfort.

Luke instincetevly touched her chest, where her heart would be. "It's, uh, right there." He said softly, giving her another smile. He took his hand back and smiled at her. Looked at her leg. "It'll be okay," he said.

No one had ever been there to reassure him that, he swallowed as he thought. The people who had took his to the hospital were the ones who had made him break his leg in the first place. He shook his head at his thought. He had to focus on Sara now. Focus on calming her down.

Avalon followed Marco, Lotti and Destiny. Which left Luke in the room alone with Sara. She kept her eyes trained on the ground, but once they reached the waiting room and she noticed the three they had left there gone she shook her head. What had happened? She couldn't help but think up the worst possible situtations.

Zane and Mason followed all of them, then they noticed Jason, Bella and Lilly gone. Zane and Mason looked around, confused. "They were just here, what happened to them?" Mason asked, as if they knew.

Jason knew how to hotwire a car, and he gave a smile when he saw one that was in the parking lot. A lot of cars actually. He chose a SUV that he saw already had the carseats for the kids in them. He set Bella down and went to work. As soon as it was hotwired, he fitted the two little girls into the car seats and got in. He drove off.

"I'm little, yeah, that doesn't mean I don't know what's going on."

Bella couldn't help but bounce up and down on her carseat. She smiled, they were going to see Bubby. "Do you think they'll let Bubby out?" She asked and only got a shrug from Jason, who she could see was struggling to manuevar the vechile.

And a side note: Uh oh. Jason taking the little girls to see Caleb. Yeah, this is going to end up going well.

Sara’s hand went to her chest, she could feel her heartbeat accelerate. “… Yeah” She sighed, not bothering to explain her question. It was silly, anyway. Her pale blue eyes finally stopped staring at her leg, and instead chose to stare up at Luke. “I’m… Glad you’re here” She said quietly with a nod. If he wasn’t, she didn’t know how she would deal with this whole thing. Him being here made everything easier, the broken/ paralyzed leg, the fact that there was a very slim chance she would be able to walk again. She shrugged, not wanting to think about the whole thing. “And...I love you”.
She hadn’t meant to say that, it sort of slipped out of her mouth. “Sorry?”. She didn’t know why she was apologizing for though. She meant it, so why take it back?


Marco Jonathon

Marco shrugged, not questioning it. If anything, this just meant more trouble. They just couldn’t catch a break, could they? He felt like just walking out those doors, leaving all this trouble behind him and not looking back. That would be the easy way out. Involuntarily, Marco took a step towards the exit.

Lotti (:

• “Despite the scars I have, both visible and unseen, I still am happy. That is something everyone should be.” •

Lotti raised her eyebrows. “Should we go look for them?”. She looked around the group, wondering where Jason could of possibly went with Lilly and Bella. Maybe somewhere in this stupid hospital, or out somewhere. She shuddered a bit. If they left, who knew what kind of problems this would cause.

Luke, at first, was surprised and it shown on his face. Then he smiled and took a moment to think. Remembering their times. The good and the bad. Him telling her about his past in the orphanage, escaping, the tree, her trying to stop Zane from hurting him, the whole thing with Shiloh. And the color of her eyes. Oh the color of his eyes made him want to kiss her every second of every day. They were brilliant, everything about her was brilliant. All this flashed through his mind in one second. Until he replied.

"I love you too."

And he meant it.

Avalon knew, because she had been listening to Bella. When you can't talk you tend to listen to people. She started to scribble down something in her notebook. She tapped Lotti on the shoulder, held up the notebook. "They probably went to see Caleb, that's all Bella will talk aboout." Once she was sure Lotti had read it she closed her notebook and dropped her arm by her side. She could see Destiny staying away out of the corner of her eye.

As soon as the doors were opened and Bella saw Caleb still in the holding cell she ran to the bars. Her brother smiled at her and talked to her in a whisper. Held her hand.

Sara nodded. Words couldn’t describe the ultimate happiness that the girl felt right now, could you implode from being too happy? She smiled at Luke, then glanced at the door that had opened. Shiloh.

“Hey Sara, how’s you leg?” The boy asked.

Sara stared incredulously, and felt like a deflated balloon. All of her happiness gone in one moment. “Get out” She said to him.

“Aw, but I brought roses” He grinned and held the bouquet out. Bright red roses.

“I’m allergic”. He frowned. “Really?” He didn’t seem to believe it. “Yep. Can you go now, Shiloh. I mean it’s a nice gesture, but I kinda want to be alone”

“Alone..” He blinked and looked at Luke.

“Let me rephrase that, Alone with Luke. Now shoo”. Shiloh shook his head, and walked towards her, Roses still in hand.

“My god, you are persistent” Sara shook her head, and shifted. She attempted to get up in bed, and did, though her leg stayed in place . She glanced at Luke, then at Shiloh. ‘Behave’ her eyes seemed to say.





Marco Jonathon

Marco sat down in one of the chairs, away from everyone else. He blinked a few times to keep from falling asleep, but overall, these past few hours have just been stressful for the eight year old. So it wasn’t a surprise when sleep won the battle.

Lotti (:

• “Despite the scars I have, both visible and unseen, I still am happy. That is something everyone should be.” •

Lotti nodded and then sighed. “That’s going to end up backfiring. I can already tell” She shrugged, and glanced at Marco, happily sleeping. At least one of them could be peaceful. Lotti weighed the pro’s and con’s of things. “I think I’m going to go, to the police station, I mean” She nodded and simply walked out the doors. Once outside, she looked at the transportation option she had. Not many visitor cars were parked, and she saw an ambulance “Perfect“ She grinned and started towards the vehicle. .

Random Cop~

The officer who had stayed in the station all day, glanced up. His eyes widened at the little girls, and Jason. “Get out” He demanded, glaring at them. “You can’t be in here!”.

Luke glared at Shiloh, his eyes shifting to Sara, he didn't want to behave. He wanted Shiloh to leave, so he said, "She said get out, so why don't you?" He glared, keeping his eyes on Shiloh and the roses in the hand. He sighed and shook his head. Let his gaze fall back to Sara and gave her a smile.

Jason glared at the cop, shook his head. "It's her big brother," he said, "We'll be gone soon." He let his eyes flutter over to the little girl and her brother. He smiled at the sight, at least one of them could be happy.
