As soon as she was sure that Jason was gone, River dropped to her knees and wept silently, her shoulders shaking. She was scared, now, and vulnerable... and the pull, like a current, that wanted to sweep her off the path, persisted. She felt the power of the spells and enchantments of the barrier, and, when she closed her eyes, she saw Hestia and DRake leading some slaves- searching for her. Shivering, she discarded her fears, and ripped of her sevant's robes, tucking them into a small handbag- which she also kept her book in. Underneath was a dark black cloak that blended into the night, with the faint remnants of an invisiblity spell woven into it. She used the cloak when she needed to observe without being observed herself, and had spoken many an invisibility sound into it. She walked carefully in her black shoes, which, incidentally, had a silencing spell on them. Even though it had grown faint- since she had not been able to renew it- it worked effectively when she walked carefully. Silently, she climbed the tree where Jason had sat the day before, and sat among it's branches, waiting and watching the search party in her head.
Hestia nodded miserably; she was exhausted, and now she as treking through the mud like a prisoner! Grumpily, she thought that it might have been better if she had just gone back to sleep- no-one knew the secret of the barriers, anyways, and no-one was powerfull enough to break the enchantments or brave enough to face them, even if they DID know. She knew that it was more likely a slave would try to leave without knowing anything- once they knew, they would be sure to always keep to the center of the path.
Sam finally went to Jason's room, breathing silently in and out. He didn't want Jason to be harmed, really- but he had to protect himself, and the mining status that kept him relatively safe from other workers. Knocking on the door, he pushed it open, and saw Jason slip into bed. So he HAD been outside... "Jason", Sam asked gruffly, "how long have you been inside?" Sam closed his eyes, waiting for Jason's answer, and half hoping he would say that he had just gotten back to bed after going to the washroom, which led off of a small door in his room.
