"Yes malady," he said, moving stiffly to the starcase. He went down it, relaxing after he had shut the door. He sighed, and opened his door slowly, going outside, making sure not to be seen. HE went to the barn, and asked which horse was hers, and asked for one to borrow. A stable hand led him to a stall, and he clipped a lead rope onto the horse, leading it out into a corral, and went back to get his. The stable hand showedhim the tack, and helped him bring it out, leaving him to tack the horses.
Jake set to work, murmuring softly to the fine horses. When he was done, he traightened up, and turned after catching sight of 2 boys headed towards him. "Hey servant boy!" they sneered, coming to stand in front of him. "Finally get to do some man work?"
Jake held his tongue, eyes throwing daggers. One stepped closer, a rugged looking sort of worker. "How's your new job?" he asked, clearly full of disdain. Jake didn't say anything, and the boy only got angrier. He looked to be a few years older than him.
He suddenly felt his head snap to the side, stumbling backwards. He brought a hand up, rubbing his jaw. He had punched Jake!
Jake scrambled backwards, but the other rushed forward, catching him in the stomach. JAke lunged forward, and they ended up on the ground. He only fought for self defense, but soon the other boys were backing away. Jake stood with his hands clenched, blood trickling from his nose onto his lip. "Think of it as a welcome!" one of them called as they ran off.
Jake sighed, unclenching his fists, and leaned aainst the fist, bringing up a hand to touch his face. He had a cut under his eye, which he assumed would swell and turn purple, and his nose was bleeding. He had a split lip too.
He patted one of the horses, and latched the fence after him, heading back into the house. He kept his head low, and went to this room, using a rag and water to clean himself up as best he could. When he was done and his nose had quit bleeding, he slowly went up the stair and knocked, opening the door. "The horses are ready, malady," he said, his words slurred slightly.
