She ran happily through the alley, her paw falls nearly silent on the wet pavement. She looked back and smiled as she saw him running behind her, his tail wagging happily as he tried to catch up. She looked ahead and lengthened her stride, a crack rang through the alley and she nearly spun in a three sixty, she struggled to try and get to her feet, but her back legs didn't seem to want to work. She looked over when she heard footsteps, she saw the black boots and looked at the hunter. She froze as she felt the cold muzzle of a gun be pressed to her head. Her eyes rested on her mate, at the far end of the alley, his eyes wide.
The crack seemed to be the loudest thing, shattering the still night into a thousand pieces. He slipped back into the shadows, turning. He silently headed back, following the same alley's he had just chased her down. He reached the small two story house and shifted into his human form, he pulled on his clothes and walked to the door. He unlocked it and went in silently. He locked the door behind him and gently set the photo of a smiling couple face down on the table. He began the long climb up the stairs as he heard the soft crying of all that was left of his world.
You have lost someone close to you, be it a mate, a parent, a sibling, a friend. And now you are lost and alone, but there is hope, you have heard of a pack that takes in wolves like you. Run by a lone male who lost his mate, and his son, who lost his mother. They are willing to help the broken heal. But now it's up to you, will you help them, or will you let hatred and anger consume you?
