Star's breathing quickened. "You... You're giving up? Just like that?" she stuttered, dumbfounded.

"Well, I can't kill you, and I know you're going to kill me, but I only ask. Make it quick, for my sister." Ember said, as she closed her eyes, preparing for the worst.
Josh
*Running. Running. Running. Running. Running over the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house we- almost dead Ember and suddenly hot Star, we go.*

((Okay, then, Josh... O_o ))
She snarled. She looked a lot braver than she felt. "That's not the Ember I know, not the Ember I envy," she growled, the last five words tumbling out in an angry mess.

"The real me," choked Ember, "wants her death to be quick, because her sister comes first." Her hair was in her eyes, and tears were streaming down. Kimber. Kimber. Kimber.

Star stopped. "If you really cared about your sister, you wouldn't let me kill you. You have a bow. I've seen you in training. You could kill me right now."

"But what would that show her? To give into the games and kill? I know I can't kill you and I tried to win, for Kimber, for Renee....but I can't. Just make it quick please, and let me say goodbye to her." Ember murmured, as she closed her eyes, and whispered goodbye.

Star sighed. "But... Josh..." she pleaded.

"Here, wait for the right time to eat them, with Josh," Ember said as she weakly handed her a pouch of nightlock berries.

She stared at the pouch. "You're giving them to me? Just like that?" she whispered. Then she peered through her lashes at the distraught girl she had to kill to survive. "I'm sorry."

"I understand, just remember, only eat them at the right time, with Josh," Ember repeated as she rolled on the word, eat. Sighing, she closed her eyes, and prepared for death.
