Byakuya sipped his coffee calmly, or atleast, as calmly as possible, untell renji walked in were he sat the cup aside, toying with the collar of renji's haori. "What were you doing last night?" He asked.

Renji blinked, going over to the table and sitting down. He took a moment to comprehend what Byakuya had asked him before answering sleepily. "I was at work." Renji replied, ruffling is hair.

"So, you weren't with anyone?" Byakuya asked, not even looking at renji as he held up the collar of renji's haori.

"Um... no. why?" Renji asked, peering at his shirt that Byakuya held.

"You hesitated." Byakuya said, nearly growling the words as he sniffed the collar. "This smells strongly of womans perfume, and don't lie and say its colone, cause I checked the house, and I can't find a single bottle of it anywere in any of the bathrooms." He continued.

Renji blinked again, chocolate orbs confused, but hardened when the realization struck. "you think I cheated on you?" he asked, body growing tense as he looked across the table top at Byakuya.

Byakuya stood. "I do! And unless you can explain to me why a woman's perfume is on your d*mn haori and why you spend extremely late nights without warning at "the office" only to come home a mess! Explain to me who the f*ck she is and why the f*ck you lover her and not me anymore then I don't want to f*ck it!" He snapped.

Renji growled, angry with Byakuyas accusations. why would he ver think such a thing? True, there was perfume around the collar of his shirt, but he knew what it was. He was tempted to tell Byakuya that it was just cologne he had borrowed from one of his squad members. It smelled good, and he thought that Byakuya might like it when he returned home from work and all. But, seeing how angry the arrancar was, and the way he was screaming at him, only made him mood head further south. why should he have to explain his nights to Byakuya? He had never cheated ion him before, but knew that if something like staying late to finish a boat load of paperwork would set off an emotional rampage, then maybe... just maybe... their love wasn't as solid as they believed.

Renji stoned his expression and stood, turning and walking away from the fuming Byakuya with measured strides.

Byakuya growled as renji started to walk away. "Fine! Don't answer me you selfish prick! I'll just go somewere I really belong instead of here. Because as of now. Bthe real byakuya kuchiki, is DEAD!" He hollared, throwing renji's hoari aside as he grabbed his zanpakutou and stormed outside, flickering his hand and easily opening a gargantua as he took a step forward, glancing back once more as he clutched his aching chest and hurried threw it to spare himself from anymore pain as he stopped, arriving in hueco mundo as the gargantua shut behind him.

Renji looked over his shoulder as Byakuya stormed out. his heart felt heavy, and as the door slammed, he couldve sworn a bit of him had just been torn away....


(timeskip a few weeks...)


It was another monotonous day. Ever since Byakuya had left, Renji had felt depressed, but steeled his emotions. He'd get over it, he kept telling himself, but knew hed never really would. Renji was still hurt over the fact that their relationship had ended over a misunderstanding. Still though, if you couldn't trust, then it simply wasnt ment to be.

Renji sat at his desk. His squad memebers were in and out of his office, bringing him papers and other things. A few checked by to see how he was fairing, but were waved away. Renji was quiet now, no longer the big loudmouth he used to be, and he didn't want company. He had Aibou, but the dog wasn't the same thing as a real person.
