Suzume shifted into a wolf and trotted after him.

Itachi sighed "I said it'sfine, now stop worrying."

Pein was silent on the way back to his office, and once he reached it, he silently sat down at his desk and picked up his pen.


.: Leiko :.

"No it isn't!" Leiko said, looking up at him as more tears went down her face. "All I do is make you worry! And I don't want that to happen!"

Suzume trotted over to sit next to his desk "What should I work on?"


"Stop!" Itachi snapped "You're fine, if I didn't worry about you...I'd be an awful person!" he hugged her again.

"You can work on these." Pein said, giving her a random pile of paperwork. He didn't look up though, since he knew if he looked up at her that he would get lost in thought once again.


.: Leiko :.

Leiko froze when he snapped at her, still crying though. This time, she didn't pull away, and just stayed there. "I just.... want you to know that I'm sorry..." she whispered as she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him back. Why can't I do anything right...? she thought.

Suzume shifted back and took the stack of papers, she instantly began to sort and read them.

Itachi sighed "I'm sorry you feel you need to apologize Leiko-chan..."

Pein silently started to write down on the paper he had been working on earlier, still thinking about things.


.: Leiko :.

Leiko was silent, not knowing what else to say. Why did it have to turn out this way? she thought as she buried her tear stained face in Itachi's cloak. She had been planning to leave the Akatsuki so she wouldn't get in the way of Itachi, but now it had gone all wrong. Now, she feared that she wasn't going to be able to get herself to leave though.

Suzume began to work diligently, but half way through the stack, she found her mind wandering elsewhere.

Itachi rubbed her back and hummed soothingly "Shhhh Leiko-chan."

Pein worked on the paperwork, not saying anything as a awkward silence filled the room.

(D:< Just admit you two are in love already, Pein! Jeez XD)

The sound of Leiko crying soon faded away, but her shoulders continued to shake as she tried to hold back her tears.

(Same with you two, gosh! D:< We've got a bunch of wimps too scared to admit there feelings here!)

Suzume suddenly felt a question gnaw at her mind "Ahhh...Pein-sama...?" she looked up at him with wide, earnest eyes;
"How do you know if you're in love...?"

Itachi continued to rub her back "There's no need to cry, I'm just glad you're okay."

Pein blinked, then looked over at Suzume. "How am I supposed to know...?" he said, having no idea why she had asked in the first place.

They are all wimps though for not being able to admit their feelings yet >.>)

Slowly, Leiko's shoulders stopped shaking. "Itachi...?" she said silently, pulling her face away to look at him.

(I'm tempted to not have Leiko be a wimp anymore @_@ Should I, or should I not? XD)
