"Cloudtail!" She had spotted her friend. Browntail grinned at the blue bird.

"Oh, hi Browntail! I was wondering... What did Daisyheart whisper to you?" Cloudtail cheerfully chirped. At least Browntail had a mother who was alive, right? He was happy for her. He had thought Daisyheart had died... The life of a loner wasn't exactly easy.

Suntail felt the tears coming and tried to hold them back. But she couldn't she let hot wet tears run down her cheeks and into her feathers. "He hates me!" Suntail cried into the Aspen's trunk.

"Who hates you?" Laughed Frozentail, swooping down from a huge oak tree and landing beside his blind sister. "If you're talking about me, I don't hate you, and I bet you a season of cleaning out the elders' den that nobody else does, either. You're the sweetest, kindest bird I've ever met!"

"Clouldtail...hes always with Browntail. After he said he would fly with me!" Suntail sobbed.

"They're really good friends." Frozentail sighed. "But... They're different species, you know he loves you more!" The dark-feathered bluebird pointed out. "And you two have been together since hatchlinghood, and Browntail's newer." He reasoned.

Shadowbeak screeched loudly as she circled above the Duskflock clearing. Looking down on the birds below.
