I grinned, watching his face as he became absorbed in the memory. I nodded enthusiastically as I, too, was caught up in his little tale. "I remember that! I was absolutely gobsmacked! Mostly because I knew what had happened, maybe even before you had. I found out about my ability when I was eight which, I think, was before you... How old were you when it was discovered?" I was so glad that it was him, my best friend, that had this ability like me... that we could talk about it freely... that it wasn't some evil person instead of one of us that was trying to kill the other with the powers... I shook my head, realising that I was simply paranoid.

I'm collecting the 2020 Easter bunnies designed by Anouki. They're based on a
Japanese pottery technique where items are repaired by glueing the pieces back
together with a (typically) gold lacquer. It's called "kintsugi" and the idea behind
this is that broken things can still be beautiful, a mantra that has helped me cope
with the latest years of my depression. I've been saving up for a tattoo, to be my
first one, which will also be fashioned after kintsugi. That's why this design holds
a lot of sentimental value for me and, consequently, why I'm setting up a hoard
for them: to remind myself that even though I'm still struggling now, I will get
better. Please help me with this hoard. Thanks for reading. ~Love from Moony

"I have no idea. It seems like I was six at the time, but it was probably about 9 or something... the chances of it being both of us, eh?" I smiled. Then a thought struck me.
"Hey, d'ya think it's a coincedence? Or just really common?" I asked. Maybe there were more like us?
Seriously, the chances of two best friends being the only two people in the world able to shapeshift into dogs/wolves struck me as being slim. Unbelievably slim.
Almost phenominally so. In fact, the chance of there being others like us out there would have to be rather high to counteract both of us.
"We could go find 'em!" I snapped my fingers. "Imagine it, more of us!"

I shook my head sadly, my eyes on my hair which I began to plait just to give my hands something to do. An awkward silence filled the room and my face flamed. "Tre... I think it's either a coincidence or Fate. I don't think there are any others, at least in the country. Otherwise, why would the government try capturing us when we're just kids? Why not developed adults?" I pointed out. "They would have had to suspect us to ask me questions. They would have to have had an idea, they wouldn't just go around asking randoms in the street. They'd need to be secretive..." But something was bugging me. "Tre, about your First Day..."

"Hurm. I see what you're talking about. But seriously, the chance of it being just us is so... phenomenally slim. Specially as we're besties and all." I mused. "Maybe, juuuust maybe, they're after us because we pose a threat? Not so much as children though, so we're easier to catch? And they could easily be after other people, we could have no idea. I don't know though, I was just thinking..." I said. Then I had ANOTHER idea.
"Ooh! Let's be hypothetical for a moment and pretend that yes, there are others. Would you want to actually meet them?" I asked Amy.
Personally I did. But there were obvious risks, and I figured she might be wary as I might be too. And anyway, how would you meet someone like that? You could have known them all your life, but you could just as easily never know...

"Tre, I've got something I have to tell you. It's about the day you first Shifted, the one we were just talking about..." I took a deep breath, "That was the first, only and last time that I was actually... scared of you. But don't worry," I added quickly, after admitting something like that, "I was young and foolish. I thought, if you could lose it and attack Kiere like that, what might you be capable of... doing... to me...?" I blushed and looked away, dropping my gaze like a hot rock: fast.

"Amy! It's OK. I'm getting better at this whole... transformy thing now. And besides, Kiere really pisses me off sometimes. You don't, and that makes a difference." I grinned, standing up. Yeah, Kiere did piss me off a bit. I mean, as cool a friend as he was he could get rather annoying at times. He knew it though, so it didn't really matter.
"Hey, what do you wanna do today? It's really nice outside, we could do whatever we want." I smiled at her, slipping off the shoes that had been on my feet all night.

I immediately tensed, my eyes wide and my mouth open. "Tredan... Do you really think it's safe to go outside already?" I asked him, absolutely amazed at either his courage and bravery or his forgetfulness. Whichever it was, I wished I had more of it. I was way too paranoid, especially in situations like this one. The only thing that I clung on to for warmth and friendship and happiness was his words, that I didn't piss him off.
Well, that's always comforting.

"Er... I dunno." I stopped. "I bloody well hope so! I don't wanna be stuck forever! Followed by a bunch of creeps who want to do God knows what with us! I mean, I can't really imagine much worse..." I leant on the windowsill, and stared outside. It wasn't actually that nice outside... kind of windy.
Still, it was a day for going somewhere. Rollerskating, shopping, music, chillaxing, whatever...
"But seriously, we can avoid them. If the worst comes to the worst, we can go out in wigs and disguises!" I said, trying to be optimistic. But the idea of covering up my head with an itchy scratchy wig didn't exactly appeal to me...

I shuddered at the thought, grabbing a blanket at the bottom of the bed and wrapping it around my shoulders. Imagine: two teens on the run... never able to rest, never able to sleep, never able to stop... never free... I felt a shiver or horror. Was this what was to become of us? "Urgh, Tre... I wanna go out but not in wigs. Let's just... try being normal today and play it by ear. Ya know, see how it goes and judge our next move based on that, ok?"

"I suppose you're right." I smiled, and slipped my shoes back on. "Well in that case, lets just stay at home then? Or we could go to mine or we could meet some of the others or we could go rollerskating or go to the park or go see a movie or YAY! I could cook some ramen! COOORN AND TOOOOMATOOO~! But seriously, whaddaya wanna do today? It'll be OK if we see them, then we actually know we have to take some sort of precautious measures." I mused. "Plus, we're pretty pro. We'll escape them! With our pro-ness!" I rocket-punched the sky, having one of them 'invincible' moments.
Seeing them wouldn't be so bad though. Unless we got caught, which would totally suck...
But we were pro! Plus, if all really did go to pot, we could transform and bite their butts!
