[Moonlit Dream]

Kurou groaned a little, his insides turning over. "Yeah, like I'd do that anyway!" he called back over the roaring of the water in the rapids. "I'm, like, beginning to think that it would have been easier just to fly or somethin'!" Kurou knew though that even if he had still got his wings, he probably would find it a little difficult to use them in his current state. His wound still ached dully, as though to remind him that it was there. "Th-thank goodness..." he mumbled to himself, sharply intaking his breath as they swerved around another rock, then choked as he breathed in salt water.

Nanami rolled her eyes at his comment, and tried to go faster, but her tail ached from tiredness. "If you had flown there you would have dropped in the middle of the ocean!" She retorted, just before they got out of the rapids. "We need to stop and rest...my tail hurts..." She said quietly, using her arms to swim now.

Kurou grimaced. "I might've made it! Besides, I,like, might not have flown over the ocean!" he pointed out, relieved to see the end of the rapids. He nodded vigorously as she said that they needed to stop and rest, still clinging to Nanami tightly and wanting to let go and be on dry land more than anything. "Your tail? My everything. Pfft, death shouldn't hurt this much... Wait, Nanami, are you dead?!" he asked.

Nanami rolled her eyes and glared at him over her shoulder. "Would I be moving my arms if I were dead?!" She snapped, still moving through the water. She looked up, hoping an island would appear soon. She felt like the waves were trying to pull her under, and she struggled to keep her head above the water. "I cant...keep going...much longer..." She sputtered, water getting into her mouth. It didn't bother her, since she could breathe underwater, but she was worried about Kurow.

"Would everything be all fine and dandy if I were still alive!?" retorted Kurou, a bite in his voice as he remembered getting the wound. He had no idea why he was still here, but if he were still alive, he was confused. He looked up in terror as he felt that Nanami was baginning to struggle beneath him. Looking around, he noticed land. It looked like the sandy slope of a beach, about a hundred metres away. "Dude! Land ho!" he said, pointing with a finger.

Nanami was about to snap at him, but she paused when she heard him say 'Land Ho!' She looked up and followed his finger to the island he was pointing to. She gasped and flapped her tail as much as she could, wanting to reach land as soon as possible. "I can make it...I can make it..." She thought, then started to murmur it under her breath as she got closer and closer to the island.

Kurou was relieved when Nanami didn't seem to want to argue wth him. either that, or she hadn't a response. Or something like that... But he didn't comment, glad that teh argument had, at least, come to an end hopefully. He looked up, hopes rising as the land drew nearer, and tightened his grip on Nanami's body. "Nanami! We're gonna make it!" he chirped joyously, already prepared to leap from Nanami's back and hug the ground or something. He'd had enough of water and swimming to last him a lifetime.

Nanami's breathing grew heavy and so did her tail as she began to run out of energy. "Trying..." She said breathlessly. "Too...tired..." She murmured as her head bobbed on the water. "Need...five...minutes...rest..." Her eyes started to close as she spoke, exhausted. The last thing she saw was the island close by.

Kurou grimaced and looked downa t Nanami, his heart sinking like a stone as he felt that they, too, were starting to get lower in the water. "Aaaaagh! We're going under- I'm gonna droooooooooooown! Duuude!" he gave a gasp of terror and lurched desperately from Nanami, knowing that she could breathe underwater. Or, hopng, at least. Trying to find the ground with his feet, he gave a yelp and kicked out, but it was still to deep, and he began to thrash about as he tried desperately to find something that would bring him back to the surface. He drew in a sharp breath, but as he did so, found only water filling his lungs, and he choked.

Nanami sank beneath the surface of the water, limp with exhaustion. She didn't hear Kurow's thrashing above her, only hearing the steady current of water around her as she sank a little deeper. "Just...one...minute..." she mumbled in her sleep, her words muffled by the ocean water.
