Nightflame noticed Starflare, asleep, with her head resting on Kiba's lap. 'They're falling in love.... But I want to be sure Kiba could protect her- if something were to happen to me...' he thought to himself.

*Ninechu got up and walked deeper into the forest for some food, Flarera's gem woke her up and she saw that Ninechu had left*

Nightflame approached Kiba. Kiba glanced up at Nightflame- and said "Yes..?" "I wish to fight you." "Why?" "If you two became mates- I want to be sure that you could protect her... If something happened to me..." ".... Fine." He gently slid out from under Starflare's head- and made sure her head wouldn't bump on the ground, by slowly letting her head down.

*Flarera's gem told her this and she wuickly ran off to find Ninechu, he nodded and they both Flame Wheeled to the edge of the bushes, laying down watching*

The two typhlosions found a clearing to do battle in. They stood on opposite sides- staring at each other. They were judging the other's strengths and weaknesses- based off of their stance- any sense-dulling sort of wounds (Nightflame's scarred eye, Kiba's torn ear)- and various other things. Eventually- they attacked- meeting in the middle.

*the two Ninetails watched them fight*

They were pretty much equally matched it seemed- they could receive hits as well as they dealt them- and they exchanged attack after attack in the fight. This fight was important to Nightflame- because it was the only way he could judge if Kiba could truly protect Starflare.

Eventually- Kiba was pinned to the ground- and Nightflame was prepared to use a Fire Blast.

"Stop!"

Starflare was there- and Nightflame looked at Starflare. "Onee-sama- why are you hurting Kiba-sama?!" Nightflame backed away from Kiba- to allow him to get up. "Starflare..." "Onee-sama- I need to know!" "I was testing him...." "For what?!" He cringed at the hint of harshness in her words. "I didn't want you to be mates with someone who couldn't truly protect and love you.... I saw how you two cared for eachother..." "Onee-sama.... Why?" Kiba glanced at Starflare. "I agreed to it Starflare. I wanted to prove to him I could protect you." Starflare was surprised- and seemed to be deep in thought. "If I wasn't in love in you- I would've never accepted this fight!" He was then surprised when he said that. Starflare seemed surprised as well. Kiba practically confessed his love.
