In The Next Life (Me, Wormy and Were!)

Postby Moonlit Dream » Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:21 pm

You trot forward, gaze flitting about the corridors of this strange school. You've had a lot of weird experiences in life, but this place has to be the strangest. A lot of the corridors are covered with pictures, of various different characters. Animes, videogames, TV shows... Some of them you recognize from things that you have seen or heard of. Some are marked with ticks, others remain blank. Even weirder is the lessons. You look at your schedule. Besides the usual core lessons of Maths and English and the such, there is magic... Discovering who you are... Defence and fighting... What kind of school is this, you wonder, frowning.

You look about nervously, feeling eyes following you for a while. When you turn, they are examining the walls, looking for something. You look up in relief as you see someone approaching, and reach out tentatively to shake hands, but the head teacher shakes their head. "You are the new student we have been expecting, then?" You nod tentatively. "So your name is..." You blink in confusion. That isn't your name! "N-no, I'm..." The teacher looks startled. "Goodness! You don't even remember your own name?!" You are severely confused now. You begin to back away. "Er, um... Perhaps I've gotten the wrong school..." You murmur. The teacher shakes her head. "No, no. It is to be expected, really. Come with me."

And with that, she turns and strides off, and you can only wonder what this strange place is...

And who you were in your past life.

Welcome! Welcome to the Next Life! In this RP, you can be whoever you want... They just don't know it yet. This RP is set in modern times, so many of the things we can RP can and will be linked to modern life. Basically, your character is a reincarnation, someone of the past, someone from wherever you want, reborn into modern times. The school is here to find those who are reincarnated, and help them discover who they are or once were, reintroducing them to modern life at the same time. Of course, the intro is just that. An intro. It could be as inaccurate as anything, nobody has the same entrances! And if you have any questions or things that you want to change, just ask!

Now then. Characters! You can be whoever you want here, but they don't have many memories of their past lives. That's where the school comes in. To reintroduce them to their worlds and powers, and give them the proper training needed to fit in or go home, back to their past life. Feel free to go wild with characters, I don't mind!
Now, here's mine:

Name: Alex
Gender: Male
Reincarnation of: Kurou of Okamiden
Age: 13
Powers: Though he hasn't really discovered them yet, Alex has the ability to float, as well as change a flute into a sword. Though in this world, he doesn't have the proper instrument that he can do this with. He will also be able to play to harm demons or people who he doesn't like. When he has equipped wings, he can fly, although like the sword, he is unlikely to be able to use that in this world.
Appearance: Alex is a rather short boy for his age. He usually wears casual clothes, such as a jeans and a T-shirt, and wears shades on his forehead or over his eyes. Depends on the lighting, really. In these ways, Alex could be seen as a stereotypical cooldude. He has elongated eyes, perhaps showing a Japanese descent, and these are bright blue in colour. He has bright, almost too bright, golden hair that hangs down around his head, and make a lot of people think of him as very camp, and this can be supported sometimes by his elegent movements and way of thinking. His voice is gentle and soft, and Alex has a strong American accent, involving the words 'dude' and 'like' a lot. He is never seen without his Ipod, and a western flute that he usually keeps in a special case. Beneath his clothes, he has a huge scar going from the top of his neck to the bottom of his belly, but he doesn't know where it came from or what gave him it.
Personality: Alex is, like his past incarnation, a huge flirt. He has a habit of inserting flirtatious phrases or movements into his speech without even realizing it. He gets very nervous around pretty girls. He likes to hang out with his friends and is quite good with technology, although a lot of the time he prefers to take things at his own pace unless they're important. He always likes to have fun, and this is reflected in the fact that he is usually always cheerful unless the worst happens, and he always tries to put a positive spin on things.
History: Alex was adopted. He has no memories of his real parents or anything like that, just that his adoptive parents found him as a baby, almost dead from an explosion that apparently left him with that wound and scar. Alex has lived with them since he was small, and was home-schooled until age 9. He found out that he was adopted at age 10 when he had been teased by his friends for looking so different to his parents and everyone else, and, sensing that something was wrong when his parents looked shifty, he pestered them until they finally spilled the truth. This didn't change how Alex saw them, though, and he still refers to them as his real parents, not daring to tell anyone else about where he really came from. Or what he knows of it, anyway. His parents sent him to the school for education when they heard that it was for people who seemed different from the regular, thinking that it would probably be best for him.
Other: ...I'll try think of something that I've missed...
The moonlight dances around me
As I strike a ghostly pose
Mirrors of water shift beneath my feet
And I raise a hand to smell a rose
The full moon blazes true o'erhead
Bathes the world in silver beams
Blossoms are dancing around me
In my world of Moonlit Dreams...

Name: Chimere Zulimar
Gender: Female
Reincarnation of: The Elder God Cthulhu, but I get the feeling you both knew that already.
Age: 15
Powers: Despite the fact that she is the reincarnation of a cosmic force from beyond the far reaches of the universe, Chimere has yet to even realize her powers. If and when she ever does discover them, she will find that, through certain chants known to Elder Gods, be able to manipulate space and time to form portals, and command shadows made of negative emotions. She, unsurprisingly, will also be highly telepathic to the point of being able to cause others to hallucinate wildly, although it will take a very long while before this power appears, if it appears at all. The same thing goes for healing of flesh and whatever physical mutations may or may not appear.
Appearance: Physically, Chimere stands at about 5'6", yet seems far taller. She fairly lithe, yet is also surprisingly strong, as if almost her entire body mass is made up of muscle. Her hair, which is always a strange shade of greenish-brown, is kept in neat shoulder-length braids, braids that seem like they move if stared at too long. On the rare occasions she doesn't keep her hair in braids, her hair is just past shoulder-length, and is rather wavy. At first glance, Chimere's eyes seem to be a rather odd shade of red, yet upon closer examination, are actually grey. Her skin is rather the same way; it looks vaguely greenish from afar, yet reveals itself to be a perfectly normal shade closer up. Her fingernails, as well, are rather odd, as they need to be cut daily. Chimere also has two tattoos on her shoulderblades, two symetrical green-ink tattoos of dragon wings. She has absolutely no idea where the tattoos came from, or what their significance is.
Chimere tends to dress in rather run-of-the-mill clothing, tending to wear well-fitting jeans and t-shirts when she thinks she can get away with it. If forced to dress up, she gravitates towards floor-length dresses made of silk or a similar material, usually in shades of green.
Personality: It could be said that Chimere has two very different sides. One half of Chimere is, to put it lightly, rather insane. Of course, that makes a fair amount of sense, considering who she's the reincarnation of. Her insanity manifests in several ways, including very vivid dreams in which various creatures from Lovecraft's tales speak to her in strange tongues, occasional snaps where she starts speaking in Latin, seemingly random fits of uncontrollable rage, and occasional megalomaniac flashes. She also suffers from horrible hallucinations that are like her dreams in topic, but these occur at complete random during the day. Chimere also doesn't sleep much, yet somehow manages to hide her various issues rather well, as is indicated by the fact that she's not at all medicated.
The other half of Chimere is a lot more normal, and blends in a lot better. Here, she's a lot calmer, a lot more relaxed, and is much more social. However, despite the fact that she often makes this facet the dominant one, there are some things she cannot hide. She cannot hide the fact that she's wickedly intelligent, especially in terms of biology, astrology, linguistic studies, and subjects of that ilk. She also cannot hide the fact she can't sleep, and she cannot hide the fact that, despite her issues, she has knowledge far beyond the reach of a 15-year-old; first-hand knowledge of things that happened in Roman times, and times even earlier than that. She has no idea where this knowledge comes from, or why she picks up language so incredibly easy.
(More will be coming later; I fail at writing personalities. If it contradicts this, I do apologize. This is only a rough outline.)
History: Chimere was found roaming around in the wooded hills of New England when she was young; young being no older than two. She was adopted by a family shortly thereafter, and was homeschooled for much of her life due to her extraordinary rate of learning. She was always fairly sure that she was adopted, mostly because of physical differences between her and her 'parents'. She was also convinced that she was adopted because of the sorry state of her home life, with both parents drinking heavily and frequently fighting each other, with that violence often turning onto her. It was this violence that, she believes, is the root of most of her mental problems. Because of the violence at home she could not escape from, she spent most of her free time outside in the small yard behind her run-down house, drawing strange patterns in the dirt for reasons she didn't, and doesn't, know.
Other: This is subject to change, but I get the feeling both of you are aware of my inability to stick to a form.

((Yaaaaaay! Sorry for the pause, dudes! I'll start with Alex, so that you guys can get the general idea of the school and stufffs. :3))

Alex plodded forward, his hair beginning to stand on end as he looked around. One hand grasped the handle of the case of his flute, the other was clenched into a fist at his side. Looking around, Alex was confused to see that most of the display boards were covered with pictures of various characters, from stuff like TV shows and movies. Alex recognized a couple from animes, others from books that he had seen or read. He felt his stomach beginning to turn uncomfortably as he realized that most people were watching him with expectant gazes. What do they, like, want me to do? Alex wondered. Deciding not to waste this strange attention, Alex put a hand to his mouth and started blowing kisses to some of the girls, waving and winking flirtatiously as he did so. Some giggled and blushed, others just looked unamused. Alex smiled cheerfully. Who was he to complain? At least he wasn't being teased about being different.
Padding forward, Alex jumped a little as he felt a tap on his shoulder. Whipping around, Alex blinked, now face-to face with a rather pretty teacher. Alex grinned, beginning to blush. "Oh, hel-lo there, beautiful!" he said, but then blinked at the look that the teacher gave him. "Uh... What did I do?" The teacher shook her head, heaving a sigh. "Never mind. So you are one of the new students we've been expecting?" Alex nodded. She looked on a clipboard, seeming to be reading some information about something. "Ah-ha..." She mumbled to herself as she ran a finger over the paper. Alex wondered what it said. "So you are... Kurou, correct?" Alex blinked in confusion. "Kurou? No, I'm Alex." The teacher seemed surprised, and she looked over the clipboard again. Alex swallowed. Perhaps that was one of the other students... After all, it couldn't be him, right? I mean, what kinda name is.... 'Kurou'...? He looked up at the teacher again. "Um... Well... I'd, like, uh.... Do you think I've got the wrong school?"

((Wormy, I had no idea you'd read that series! *tackle-glomps*))

Standing back from the small crowd building around a blonde-haired boy and some teacher, Chimere leaned against a wall, glaring at everyone who gave her a questioning glance. She was not in a good mood that morning; she hadn't slept again the night before. Bet I die from not sleeping soon. she thought rather morbidly, looking around her again. Guess I should go see what that teacher's handing out. It's probably a useless paper that my parents have to sign. Public schools are always about that kind of paper. Pushing off the wall, she glanced around her again, then shook her head slightly. She was starting to have a daymare, and was starting to see the now-familiar shapes at the edges of her vision, and tentacles were reaching to her from the darkness. Already knowing what to do to get rid of these annoying occurrences, she hummed softly to herself, the tune an alien and strange one.
Standing behind the rather short blonde boy now, she waited to receive whatever it was the teachers sought to give her. Taking this opportunity to get a closer look at the board of pictures, she wondered why it was there. I mean, what kind of school has a wall of pictures of people who aren't students?!

((Yep! *glomps back*
I'm only going to post for Felix. I'm too tired to risk making two crappy posts...))

Felix stepped through the halls, smiling to himself. Kids sat on both ends of the halls, getting things out of their lockers, talking to their friends, and watching him walk by. He paid no attention to them and instead looked at the pictures on the walls. Felix wasn't much for modern entertainment, and it took him a few minutes and a couple dozen photos until he realized what these were pictures of.

"Well that's quite odd." He thought outloud, a bad habit of his, "These aren't pictures of real people. Now why would a school have pictures of fake people?"

"They're real." A deep voice said, and Felix turned around. There was a male teacher, holding a clipboard in one arm and a wooden claymore sword in the other, "I'm Mr. Nance. You are...Claire Stanfield, yes?" He said, reading something off of the clipboard.

Felix laughed. This guy was odd, holding a fake sword and calling him a girl? What is this guy, the cooky historian?
"Claire Stanfield? Do I look like a girl to you?" Felix joked and stuck out his hand, "I'm Felix Gandor, but my boys back home call me Vino."

((Dances just 'cause I can*))

The teacher looked Alex over quizzically. Alright, now he was getting a bit freaked out. "Um... I have got the right school, right?" he laughed nervously, looking at the teacher over the rims of his sunglasses. The teacher nodded. "Almost certainly... Alex," her gaze returned to the clipboard, and she looked at Alex, then to the clipboard, then back up to Alex. Alex felt the hairs on the back of his neck beginning to rise, but he kept smiling. "Um... Okay then, Miss... Like, what's happening, then?" he asked, blinking his elongated eyes innocently. The teacher pulled something from the clipboard and handed it to him. "Your schedule, student. Class starts in five minutes time. I trust that you'll enjoy your time with us... And leave as a new person." Alex was getting a strange feeling now, but he smiled in thanks, and then turned and began to move away. A few seconds later he turned back to look at the teacher, and noticed that, in the background, someone was placing a mark, a green tick, on a picture on he wall. Curiously, he trotted over to them. "Yo... 'Sup?" he asked inquisitively. The man looked up, raising an eyebrow at him. He removed the stamper, and Alex blinked as he looked at the picture, eyes flicking back and forth beneath his lashed eyes and sunshades as he took in every detail. It looked like a Japanese watercolour painting; of a boy. Alex was a little startled by how much the boy looked like him. Just in case he were to miss anything, Alex raised the sunglasses onto his forehead and rested them there. His sapphire eyes were now clearly visible.

The boy in the picture had pink clothes, a red pompom on the chest of the jacket that he wore. He had stilts and very elongated eyes, as well as a long scarf that tailed him. He sat atop a white wolf pup, and the markings of that animal made Alex shiver. It seemed so familiar, but Alex had no idea why. Slowly, Alex stood up, but when he looked around for that guy who had placed the tick on the picture, he found that the man seemed to have vanished. Alex frowned and looked around, then raised the schedule to eye level so that he could look at his lessons. He raised his eyebrows, and then began to trot back over to the person who'd given him the schedule. "Yo, I don't understand!" he called, skidding to a halt in front of her. "The schedule... It, like, has really weird stuff on it! Can you, like, explain to me? Most things, like, seem kinda normal, but, like, magic? New Life? Past Life? Fighting?" he asked, evidently confused by the contents of the schedule. He gave a high pitched laugh just like the one that belonged to a certain character of a certain game, and then looked back at the teacher. She looked rather serious. Alex gulped at the look. "Um... You mean you're not joking? Sure... Um, chill out, dudette!" He raised both of his hands as though telling something to stop.
