[Complicated game]

Sevilen sighed and nodded. "Alright. But I can't promise that anyone will be safe with me around." Her face now showed worry lines. "I'm not a criminal. I swear by Rome!" She added with great haste. She tucked her lute under her arm and came closer.

[Interiu]

Zaem outright laughed. "My lady, I wouldn't believe you even if you said you were! Besides, as dangerous as you may be, they'd have to be outright fools to attack a blacksmith in his own shop. Well," he said after a moment, "in his master's shop, but nonetheless." He lifted his hammer and strode over to the door, pulling it open and nodding for her to enter.

[Complicated game]

Sevilen walked in. Her entire body seemed compressed like a berry someone decided to squeeze until it popped. She slipped her hat and lute into an empty corner and stood by them. She nervously fiddled with her snood until it fell out. She squeeked in emmarasment and picked it up. Her hand reaching it like if she didn't grab it before it hit the floor the earth would open up and eat her. She shoved her hat back on and waited.

Zaem walked in and closed the door behind him. He shut and locked the window and placed the hammer on the windowsill. "Pardon the mess," he said quickly, indicating the forge, "I was finishing up an order." He lifted a sword from the water bucket where he had dropped it and placed it on the coals to heat back up. "That, and I don't get visitors often at this hour." He took a tea kettle and filled it with water, hanging it next to the heating sword. Zaem then turned and walked over to Sevilen. "Lemme take a look at that cut of yours."

Sevilen sighed. She wiggled the edge of her shirt to give a clear veiw of the cut. Deep, three inches long. "It's nothing sir. I've had quite worse in my travels." She said giving him a weak smile. She took a deep breath. How long had it been since she smelled coals burning? The steam of a teapot. Too long.

[Interiu]

"If this is nothing, I'd hate to see worse." He turned and dipped a cloth in a smaller bucket of water, holding it underwater for a second, pausing before he lifted it out of the water. He carefully used the cloth, now warm, to clean the cut, then covered it with another cloth, folding the bloody cloth and throwing it into the corner of the fireplace. "And you don't have to keep calling me sir. Name's Zaem."

Sevilen winced a little even though the rag didn't hurt. "Sevilen Robberts." She said. "Nice to not be formal." She cracked a small smile. "And this is quite the place. Pity I don't have long." She sighed, looking around. "You're taking a big risk taking me in for the night." She said, turning to look him in the eyes.

[Interiu]

"This?" he took a look around the workshop. The back half was solely dedicated to his work, and contained the regular tools of the trade: an anvil, the forge, tables and benches, racks of metal items hanging or laying, and various hammers and other tools. This gave way to an emptier area, with a few pieces of furniture that passed as a living room. It wasn't much, but considering the generosity his master was showing in letting his apprentice try his hand in running it made it all the more important to him.

"Pity you don't have long? Big risk? You talk as though you think you won't live the night. I assure you, there are few places in this town safer than here." Her eyes locked with his, and he held her gaze, gently resting his gloved hand on her hand.

Sevilen looked almost between rage and tears. "I'm afraid I may not. It's not the first person to try after me. But I don't doubt your safty." She assured him. "I-" She paused. "I'm... not exactly entirely human." She said. She lifted a hand. Her fingers sparked. Her eyes seemed to do the same. "And something make me think you may not be either." She said, looking up from her fingers.

[Interiu]

Zaem watched the spark jump across her fingers. After a second, he rose. Taking a step back, he closed his eyes and lifted his hand, palm up. A moment passed and nothing happened, then a tiny light sparked to life in the air just above his palm. He opened his eyes, but kept concentrating. The light slowly grew larger, until it was a small, coal-sized fireball. He closed his hand into a fist, and the ball vanished. "That's the hardest part," he said quietly. "It's easier to heat things, like water or metal," he gestured toward the forge, "and sometimes I can pick up on heat from people, though that's by no means reliable."
