"I guess you could call them that. Novels, maybe. They had a lot of pages but I don't have them any more. Some stupid kid took them and burned them when I was carrying them around this one time." Austyn replied, pulling his legs up into a cross-legged sitting position as he continued to look at Aoi, hiding his definite interest in the other boy. Surely, it was only going to be a crush. I hope... Geez.

"Aww... poor you..." Aoi said making a pout. "I would love to read them. I'm not really into books but I would like to read one you wrote." Aoi smiled and shrugged. He was mostly the laid-back type than someone who would do something. Especially write or read a book. Everyone who knew him would say easily that Aoi was the kind of type who would do anything other than read a book. Some things weren't for him. "And what did you wrote about?" he asked looking at Austyn with his usual curious eyes.

"I wrote about a kid who was abandoned because his parents didn't want him anymore, as he was seriously deformed and his face was half burnt. It had three books in the series before the kid burned them. My mom liked them quite a bit." Austyn replied, smiling softly as he thought of his mother. She was safe and sound with her friends who had all married normal men, and she was just said to have recently divorced after the father had killed the kids. Hopefully, the soldiers bought that if they ever decided that she was guilty of something or other. Aoi was quite a talkative person. By the end of the day, he assumed that they would know everything about each other.

"That's a pretty sad story." Aoi commented and then shrugged. Aoi suspected that Austyn was influenced by the little war that was going on. A boy... who was deformed... and was abandoned... It made sense to him. Aoi decided to stop thinking about it. Besides, it had nothing to do with him.... yet... Aoi glanced at Austyn and then just lied back on the bed, placing his hands under his head. He stared at the ceiling for a while and then looked at Austyn's direction. "Have you always been by yourself? I mean... If you had anyone with you as you traveled or was searching for hideaways. Like a partner or a friend." Aoi asked simply, yet still curious about anything that had to do with Austyn.

"No, I never had. I couldn't stand to get attached to someone and then see them get ripped apart by dogs." Austyn replied in a rather melancholy tone, not really telling the whole truth since he honesty didn't want to. In some ways, it simply hurt too much to talk about his old partner, a boy by the name of Kale. The boy who had made him gay in the first place. They'd met up when they narrowly escaped out of the camps, just simple partners then. But, as they traveled into forests and different locations, they'd bonded more than that. Kale had been his lover, and he didn't think that anything could ever keep them apart. Then, one day, they were running from the dogs and Kale had tripped and begged him to go, as he could never stand to see his love die. Austyn had heard his screams as he ran away. So, he never had loved again. Until Aoi. No. He's only a crush. He thought.

"Well, in some way it's very good that you didn't have anyone." Aoi said skeptically. "If you love someone it makes you weak." Aoi did believe it but even he sometimes forgot that saying. But, that happened only in the past. He had been all by himself all this time and he didn't mind it. However, there would be some moments when Aoi would wish he had someone by his side when he felt down or sad... or even when he felt happy and wanted to share a lame joke. "Love makes you weak. And being weak makes you an easier target." Aoi knew that little rule; if you love someone, you get weaker and if you get weaker, you die. Aoi felt a pain in his chest and tears raising up to his eyes. But, whatever happened, he wasn't afraid to show that fragile side of his in front of someone like Austyn. Simply because he had been keeping all those tears an thoughts locked away in the back of his mind for this long and it was getting harder and harder to keep them hidden. A single tear escaped Aoi's dark eyes as he looked up at the ceiling.

"Aw... Don't be sad, Aoi. Weakness may show that you still have emotions. You can still run away from dogs if you're depressed." Austyn assured, laying down beside him and hugging around his waist. To him, it was a rather simple motion, since he was feeling a bit more comfortable around the other boy. It still was kind of weird, though, to be hugging another male other than Kale in the first time in a little over three years. There hadn't been much thought in his mind to do something of the sort, and he kind of felt nervous doing so. It wasn't every day that you just randomly hugged a stranger that was crying to make them feel better when they were down. Certainly not with Austyn. He'd rather run in case the guy was putting on an act and had a knife in his pocket and was waiting to see if someone was going to come over so he could murder them.

Aoi looked at Austyn and a small smile appeared on his face. "Yeah, you can run but if something happens to that someone, then you are busted." he said in his normal voice. He didn't want to be sad and depressed... or desperate. Actually, he didn't want to have any of the negative emotions. He was taught that if you smile and have a nice aura around you, it makes everyone feel better- and so he did. He would always wear that childish smirk whatever was the situation. He turned on his side to look better at Austyn, leaving a couple of inches between them. "Hey.. you have beautiful eyes..." he noticed as he looked deeply in them. From this close, he could examine Austyn's face better... and those eyes plainly killed him in the inside from their beauty.

Austyn smiled when Aoi commented on his eyes. They were so close, and he could hear the other male's breathing on him, the small smile on his face. He snuggled closer to him and put his head onto his chest. Why am I doing this? It's just so unusual and strange to be hugging someone. Even someone this cute, I guess. He thought, wondering how he'd become so close to him already in the brief time that they'd been talking. It seemed as if he'd known him for a while, and they were just starting to realize that they liked each other, even though Austyn wasn't sure if the other guy liked him back.

Aoi smirked and looked at Austyn as he placed his head on his chest. Aoi was a guy who would show every single of his emotions to others- he was open like that. But... affection and love came in a greater amount than anything else. He placed a hand on Austyn's head, playing with his black hair. His hand moved to Austyn's little grey kitty ears. Aoi played a little with them, smirking. "Cute little ears." he said and chuckled once. He always admired cat-humans more than dog-humans. Probably because they were different from himself. A little but still, different.
