His words washed over her, slipping away instantly. Except those two words "come back" that had never been spoken to Allaina before. She broke into a dead sprint, going nowhere, just away from where she was and away from the person who had told her to "come back." Cameron could try to follow her and just wait for her to collapse then drag her back, or he could deal with it and move on, try to find someone else in this now empty world. If he let her go, she could die and hopefully there was no afterlife where she would remember telling him what she had. Those were some of the things she had told herself over and over not to share. Over and over and over and over. Her feet hit the ground at a pace that surprised her, but she was fading. After only a short time, she began to stumble increasingly, and eventually fell flat on her face, making no move to get up. Allaina just stayed there, waiting for her death.
