Devan sighed quietly while she waited for the bud. Suddenly she noticed a boy nearby. It seemed like he was watching her. The thought made her blush and look down at her shoes. Maybe he'd say hello instead of just staring. It was making her self-conscious.
Pretty soon, then bus pulled up to the curb, and she climbed on. One of the few empty seats was toward the middle of the bus, jsut where she liked to sit. She slipped down the isle, headed for the empty bench, when suddenly she fell flat on her face.
Laughter erupted behind her.
"Loser!" somebody laughed heartily.
Devan took a deep breath, stood up, and dusted herself off. She continued down the isle and sat down in her seat, then looked out the window and ignored the taunting comments of the older kids on the bus.
