(Ah, yes. Like artists block, which I've had a LOT. I feel your pain! We could do the time skip right here.)

Sootfire trudged into camp with Jetpaw. Immediately, some of the clan came over to investigate. "What happened? Are you okay?" and other such questions echoed throughout the camp. Then, the medicine cat pushed through and after checking Sootfire's paw, lead him into her den.

***Timeskip... say 3/4 of a moon?***

Sootfire crept through the shadows of the camp. The air had a sharp, crisp chill and he shivered slightly. Weaving around some lose leaves and twigs at the edge of the clearing that might ruin his stealth, he stopped at the entrance to a den and looked in on a group of young cats, all sleeping. He spied an empty spot in the middle and lightly hopped over into it, his paw now fully healed. He glanced around again, a mischievous look glinting in his eyes, then spun around on his rear legs, flicking all the apprentice's ears with his tail and prodding at their sides with claws sheathed. In a matter of heart-beats, the apprentices all looked at him grumpily, not at all pleased to be wakened at such an early time. "Guess what?" he said in a falsely innocent tone. "I told Skywing (random name for the deputy) that all the apprentices should get up at dawn and go hunting. And, she thought it was a wonderful idea!"

Jetpaw had awoken to a flick on her ear and a prod to her side. When the young apprentice opened her eyes, the form of her mentor filled her vision, and his voice her ears. Hunting..? This early? She silently groaned. What was he thinking? Like all the other apprentices, she now had a very annoyed expression, tail twitching in irritation. She grumbled something silently under her breath before standing up, a bit of moss clinging to her fur. Not much that Jetpaw could do besides do as Sootfire told her, anyways. And if Skywing said so, she defiantly couldn't do anything about that. ]

[Pure Dragon]

Seeing the apprentice's faces, he added, "Well, being as Rosefang (another random name) had kits last night, I think we ought to get her some food as soon as possible, no?" he said seriously. Then, turning to Jetpaw, he said, "I promise that we'll do whatever you want after this, okay? And, I'll let you take your best fresh-kill to Rosefang yourself and see the kits. Deal?" he asked.

Her ears perked up. Rosefang had her kits overnight? That made more sense. The more of them out looking for prey, the better chance they would find something worth giving to the new mother. Jetpaw wondered the queens new kits looked like, how many she had, and if they were doing well. She shook the clinging bedding from her pelt, brightening when her mentor said she could take her best fresh-kill to Rosefang and see the kits herself. ]

Sootfire saw Jetpaw brighten up, just what he was hoping for. "I haven't seen them yet, but I hear she has 4 healthy kits." he said, purring. Then, he stood and padded out of the clearing, flicking his tail as he went as a signal for Jetpaw to follow. He opened his mouth, drawing in the scents of the forest, and listened carefully with pricked ears. It was very quiet, but he did smell mouse. Heading off towards the scent, he meowed, "Jetpaw, stay with me for now, and I'll tell you when it's alright to split up." He continued walking lightly over then snow, the thin, icy crust over the surface staying intact. Following the scent of mouse, he stopped when he reached the edge of the pit he'd fallen in a while ago. Laughing, he thought the creature must have fallen in as well. He hopped down in and lunged at the mouse, but it slipped through his paws and dissapeared. Confused, he looked at the wall and saw a small hole. He crouched and reached his leg in, all the way up to his shoulder, but he still could feel no mouse! "Jetpaw, come down here and check this out!" he called.

(Darn, I have to get off. D: I might be on later tonight, like 3 or 4 hours, but if not I'll be back tommorow.)

Four kits? That's great! The young apprentice thought, a small grin working it's way onto her maw. When her mentor motioned for her to follow, she quickly stumbled after him. Sleep was still grasping at her like angry brambles caught in her pelt. When her ears caught what he said, her own twitched. Jetpaw noticed the faint scent of mouse in the air."Why do we need to stick together?" She whispered, but stuck with him anyways. When he jumped into the hole he'd fallen into not to long ago, confusion etched it's way onto her features, but when she caught the scent of mouse, she knew why he went back in. The small feline was making her way down into the hole at the same moment he called for her, so she was at his side rather quickly."What is it?" She asked. ]

"Look! A mouse went in here, but it's not just a hole." He reached his foreleg into the hole again to show Jetpaw. After a moment's thought, his face turned to one of amazement. "What if?..." he murmured to himself. He backed as far away from the hole as possible, his tail brushing the other dirt wall of the pit. He charged, muscles rippling, at the wall, then flew into it with all his weight, hoping he was right. And he was - the impact made the wall shiver, then crumble, and when Sootfire landed, it was not in the original pit. An opening showed itself as the dust cleared, and Sootfire shook his pelt. The opening led into darkness, and the air there smelled rather fresh. "It must be some sort of tunnel!" he mewed excitedly.

"Not just a hole..?" Jetpaw repeated, watching her mentor stick his paw inside the so called 'not-just-a-hole' as far as it would go. If it's not hole, then what is it? She wondered, tail twitching in bemusement. All the while, she wondered what was racing through the toms thoughts. What, exactly, was this hole if it wasn't a hole? Before she could ask her thriving questions, Jetpaw watched as Sootfire backed up as far as he could from where the mouse had gone, then charged at it as if all of Starclan were after him. The young feline knew better than to question the thoughts of the warrior, so she just watched as he rammed all of his weight into the wall. As the dust cleared, the she-cat stared at the newly-found tunnel. What a discovery! Now only if we had known this a few moons ago... She muttered in her mind. ]
