Gavan involuntarily backed away a bit when she snapped at him. She was a live wire. He got the feeling that he needed to get away from her. She seemed...mean. Just plain mean. He didn't do well with mean people.
"Which way was the city again?" he asked her. "I think I'll just fl- walk into town. Find someplace there." He had corrected himself quickly, but wasn't sure if Maslow had noticed. He was so used to saying that- Just fly on over, we're flying down to the park, stuff like that. He couldn't fly here. People would lock him up in a giant birdcage and cut little pieces out of him until there was nothing let for them to cut.
