Alana tossed and turned a few times as she slept, like she usually did. Once she woke up she couldn't get back to sleep. She stretched and yawed, hopping out of bed and going to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her hair. Her dad was still sleeping so she left the house while he was. The first place she went was to the pond at the park, this day was sunny and bright.

Ed awoke slowly, stiff from a poor night's sleep. He hadhaad nightmares all night long. He stumbled into the bathroom and brushed his hair, throwing it back into a braid. He quickly put on his converse and walked out the door, heading to a small cafe. He bought a bagel and headed to the park to eat it.

Alana looked around, a lot of people were out today. She kept mostly to herself and saw Edward walking into the park. She was thinking about going over and saying hello but she didn't want to bother him.

Ed threw the bag from his breakfast into a garbage bin and walked over to the pond and sat on the edge. He set his shoes next to him and dangled his feet in the water, slowly eating his bagel. He didn't seem to notice anyone else. He was totally absorbed in his thoughts, watching the ripples spread across the water.

Alana tilted her head toward him, but got up and walked over. "Hey." She said, looking down at him. She pulled up the corner of her sweat shirt as it bothered her.

He looked up at her with a mouthful of bagel. He quickly swallowed, almost choking. "Hi" he coughed. he cleared his throat after a minute. "How are you today? Did you get home before the downpour? I barely did." Today, instead of wearing his normal t-shirt he was wearing a black tank top, revealing a strange tattoo on his left shoulder. It was the color of blood. He patted the ground next to him, and motioned for her to sit.

Alana nodded and sat down next to him. "Yea, I got caught in the downpour though. Oh well, a little water never hurt me." She said with a little laugh. She scanned him over, looking at his tattoo. "That is different." She said, her eyes on it. Today Alana was wearing a tank top as well, white, with denim shorts seeing how it was actually semi hot out.

He looked down at his shoulder. "Oh, this? It's a mixture of the Greek sign of medicine, the Greek sign of wealth and the Serpent Cross, which means victory over the devil. All together, it means something similar to 'a life reborn'. I got if after... my mom died. I became a very different person after that." He looked down at the water and clenched his fists, trying not to cry. "I guess that's kinda boring though, huh?" He laughed sadly.

"Not really, I think it is interesting actually." Alana said, seeing his sadness. She gave him a pat on the shoulder then jumped into the pond. "Come in, it is so refreshing." She said, wanting to cheer him up as she noticed his Mother was a touchy subject. Her mother was always a touchy subject as well but she had been gone for so long that she couldn't remember her so much anymore..

Ed laughed and dived in after her, reaching the bottom of the pond and kicking off. He surfaced right next to her and splashed her. He smiled mischieviously and started swimming away before she retaliated. He turned and stuck his tongue out playfully at her. "Betcha can't get me!"
