[Complicated game]

Clare took her stuff and walked home. A small home a mile from town. She threw her stuff into a corner. Hearing a jingle she paused. She used a short burst of rain smelling air to pop the bag out of her pocket of her hankerchif skirt. She opened the bag and watched the coins spill out. She felt her jaw go slack. She gathered the pieces back up. She couldn't accept it. But with the sun almost gone, and wolves in the forest. The morning would be best. She went to bed.

richard sat at home reading. he wondered if clare would pass the test.

the next morning richard was at his smithy working

Clare walked in. Her lute strapped to her back. "If I'm not mistaken, this is yours." She said holding up the bag.

"thank the heavens someone finally passed the test." richard said looking up. he looked at clare. "no that is my payment."

Clare paused. "What? This was a test?" She said dumbfounded.

"yes and you are the first person to ever pass it. please, follow me. we have much to discuss." richard walked into an office.

Clares jaw remained open. She walked after him. She closed her mouth when a fly landed on the side of her mouth.

richard shut the door behind her. "please have seat. can i get you anything?"

Clare shook her head. "No thank you." She said sitting. She paused before saying. "Except an explanation." She added.

"this." richard said pulling out what looked like a black ball made of metal. "this is known as a kakari. it is an ancient magic relic. it is one of seven. one for each element:fire, earth, wind, water, metal, weather, and shadows. these relics inhanse the power of ones talent. i have bonded with the black one here. i gave you a test to see if you were able to bond with one of the others. you passed. each kakari will only bond with a person if they have the right qualities."
