Clare nodded slowly as she slid down from the tree. "For- magic? Or blacksmithing?" She asked.

"blacksmithing. no one in town knows i have a talent. except you. i would hope it remains that way."

Clare snorted. "And why should I keep your power a secret?" She said, even though she had little to gain.

"two reasons. one, i know of your power as well and im sure you dont want people to know about you. and two." the shadows gathered around him. his gray eyes darkened. "im not a merciful enemy. i would hope we could be friends." his eyes and the shadows returned to normal.

Clare held up another ball. "Did you know the surface of lightning is three times hotter then the sun? I advise you don't make me use it." She said. She snapped her fingers and it vanished. She started to walk away with a huff.

richard closed his eyes and sighed. "wait. im sorry. i did not mean to threaten you. my past is a troubled one and i dont want it to return. why dont we start over. im richard williams" he said holding out his hand.

Clare turned around. She sighed and shook his hand. "Clare Potter, tempestate moderator." She said.

"it is my pleasure to meet such a lovely woman." richard said with a bow.

"Pleasure." Clare said, though her face said different. She gave a reverence though to be polite.

"have a good evening. see you around hopefully." richard said with a smirk. he turned and walked away. what clare did not know was that richard had slipped a pouch into her pocket. it had a small fortune of gold pieces.
