Raymond bared his teeth a little. "I'll do whatever makes my parents proud and happy. They had to go through the same thing," he said. Alice stood silent, just watching the two.

[tiny]

Lupe laughed a little. "See? I was right about that too. You know you don't think it's best and that's that. But good luck in the marriage; feel free to drop me an invitation to the wedding."

[EmberWolf]

"Lupe," Alice finally spoke. "Maybe it'd be better if you left tonight." She glared at him. Why'd he have to ruin everything?

[tiny]

"Well I don't have any arrangements to leave tonight," he replied dryly.

[EmberWolf]

"That's not to say we can't kick you out," Alice said sternly. Lupe had just seemed to ruin everything for her.

[tiny]

"But you won't do that," Lupe replied simply.

[EmberWolf]

"I won't, but that's not to say my father won't either," Alice threatened.

[tiny]

"He doesn't have to know about this, now does he? I'll let you two get back to slowly driving yourselves into complete ruin and I'll just get back to doing whatever it is that I do, alright?" Lupe flashed a smile at the two of them.

[EmberWolf]

"Now listen here," Ray said. "My parents and her parents and their parents and a lot of other families had arranged marriges, and this isn't even that. We can choose if we don't want this, and I know I choose to make my parents happy. I am perfectly fine with this."

But he was starting to doubt himself. He wanted to go back to his girlfriend, he really did, but he also wanted to make his parents happy, he wanted to make this work. He liked Alice, but he loved that other female. He really loved her. Alice could see it in his eyes.

"Ray," she said. "Ray you don't have to do this. I'm sure your parents will respect your decision," Alice placed a hand on his shoulder.

Lupe folded his arms across his chest, turning and starting to walk out of the barn.
