One X One with Honorable Villain & Vespertina

Alex nodded. "I know it must be hard," she said softly, "not remembering. I wouldn't be able to do that. I'd go insane if I couldn't remember. Not that it would matter much after I was dead." She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. "Well, what's your name? I'm Alex. I have tons of nicknames around school, though. The most used ones are 'freak' and 'loser.'"

Ryu nodded a bit in response as the girl went on about it being hard with the loss of memory. It really was. It was no picnic walking around wondering if you ever had a purpose when you were living. "Ryu," He answered once she introduced herself. Out of the blue, Ryu shifted his attention back towards Alex and he mindlessly reached out to touch Alex's arm. His fingers didn't go right through her but it shocked him a bit to actually feel how warm she was. Touching the material of her shirt and feeling the warmth that radiated around her. After his realization, he pulled back his hand and blinked. "Sorry." He muttered softly in case she didn't want to be touched.

Alex watched quietly as he reached out and gently brushed her arm. It must have been the life force coming off of her that attracted him. That's why most ghosts were attracted to smaller children, because their life force was stronger.
"No, it's fine," she assured him. "Okay. I know you probably won't, but do you remember maybe having a grudge on someone when you died? Maybe you did something that you couldn't fix? Those are sometimes why people stay behind after they die. Because they need to fix something. It's sort of my job to help them out."

Ryu glanced towards the floor to give Alex's questions some thought. He sighed heavily. "I don't remember." He replied, disappointment tainting his voice as well as irritation with himself. Every so often he would remember things clearly but then he would forget, like he wasn't meant to hold them for very long.

Damian lightly stepped back into the room again. "Your mother thinks you're hiding, I told her you were helping me in the study but she doesn't believe me." He breathed an irritable sigh and the glanced at the empty space Alex and was talking to. Again, he couldn't see anything but he got the sense that Alex wasn't alone in the room. It was kind of creepy but he it was something he got used to.

"That's not a problem," Alex told Ryo. "We'll figure it out." She looked up when Damian entered the room. He seemed annoyed with the whole situation. "Oh. Okay. I'll talk to her in a second." She rose to her feet and held her hand out to Ryo welcomingly. "C'mon. You get to come home with me. Might as well leave these people alone."

Damian nodded and walked back into the study again to pick another box. It was small but heavy as hell. Probably books or something, Damian figured as he took every step down the staircase with slight caution. After setting it down in the room near the front, he rolled his shoulders a bit and then glanced out the door to see the daughter talking on her cellphone. She didn't seem too thrilled on leaving but Damian could careless what she thought, he rolled his eyes and went back up the stairs.

Ryu watched Damian leave again but shrugged his shoulders a bit in response. "Alright," He said and looked over towards the white cat again, lifting his hand to stroke the top of the animal's head. His eyes followed Alex as she stood but Ryu remained where he was until she held out her hand. He tilted his head a bit until he figured out what she meant to do. With a slight shake of his head, he stood up on his own. Turned out he was a bit taller than her by an inch or two.

Alex smiled up at him. "Okay, then. Let's go."
She turned and walked out of the room, then slipped down the hallway to the stairs. She quickly bounded down to the first floor, where she found her mother in the front room. Alex went up to her and tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"What is it, sweetie?" her mom asked.
Alex leaned closer and lowered her voice. "I found something in the upstairs bedroom," she said quietly.
"What did you find?"
Alex raised her eyebrows meaningfully at her mother, whose eyes suddenly filled with realization.
"Oh. Okay, honey, you go on home with Damian. A test is pretty important," her mom said, just loud enough for the neighbors to hear from the other room. Then she added quietly, "Don't break anything like last time."
"He won't, I promise. Thanks, mom."
"You're welcome."
Alex turned to the front door, made sure Ryu was there with her, then called for Damian.

Ryu hesitated before going out into the hall again. He continued to find it strange having someone actually see and hear him but he followed and stepped aside when someone passed, not really wanting to touch anyone else in the house. Seeing Alex converse with her mother made him curious but he glanced over his shoulder to dodge Damian as he bounded down the stairs like a child. "Indeed it is important," Damian commented a bit jokingly before going for the door.

Alex smiled at Damian before opening the front door and heading outside. It was a nice day out. Not too hot, like it had been recently. It was autum. It's shouldn't have been hot at all.
Alex led the way back to her house, where she opened the door and waved the other two inside. The other one, according to anybody else. But ghosts were people, too.
"Okay. So, Damian, this is Ryu. Ryu, Damian." Alex smiled at them both as she entered the house and kicked off her shoes. "We're gonna have to postpone the Mario championship for now, buddy. Sorry. Ryu, you want to check out the house?"

Damian was a bit confused when Alex said Ryu but he then figured it was probably the ghost's name and he then groaned a bit when his game of Super Mario was postponed. "Aww, seriously?" He questioned but kenw what answer he was going to get. "Fine, but i'm attacking your Caprisuns." He muttered before heading into the kitchen again, opening the pantry once more to pull out a Caprisun.

Ryu glanced over Damian before the boy left but his attention went back towards Alex and he shrugged his shoulders a little. "I guess," He replied lightly before taking a look around. It wasn't that much different than the last house except a bit bigger and less people. All he wanted was to be left alone but he didn't really know what it was like to have company. Well, company that would reply to you like a real person and not just a mist. "Why did you bring me here again?" He asked.
