Shade looked at the small house on the beach. She moved her shaggy white blonde hair out of her face. Shade took a deep breath, looked at her black lab. Then knocked on the door.

Alex sat on the park bench by her house doodling.

Lily stood up and walked over to the door. When she saw a girl around Alex's age, she smiled. "Alex is out right now."

Shade looked at the woman. "I'm not here to see..Alex." she said. "I'm here to see Lily."

"Oh, I'm Lily," she said.

Shade smiles brightly, "Really?" she asked.

"Yes, can I help you?" Lily asked with a smile.

Shade bit her lip, "It's kinda a long story." she said.
