.::MelanieMelanie finished her sandwich, then frowned. “What am I going to do now?” she asked Tori angrily. “I can’t go back home. Not yet.”
“Go for a walk? This place if FULL of forest to get lost in, forget about your troubles.” Tori suggested with a shrug.
“Come with me?” Melanie pleaded, but didn’t expect him to come, even though she was offering him a date with one of the prettiest girls in town.
“You know I can’t.” he grinned. “I’m a city boy…well, er, town boy..” he replied with a lopsided smile.
“Alright, suit yourself.” she shrugged and walked out without another word, heading for the forest. She wasn’t about to head home - confrontation with a drunk man was the last thing she needed.
Just as she was contemplating putting her iPod into her ears, Melanie heard some talking, and began to creep towards the voice. It didn’t seem like a full on conversation, but anyone really talking to themselves in the woods was abnormal.
She hid behind a thick tree and looked into a small clearing, the faint rusty smell of blood in her nostrils. Beside a dead girl’s body, was a man and a wolf.
Suddenly, the wolf trotted off, and in it‘s place returned a man. Melanie stood completely still, trying to breathe quietly, curious at what was happening.
.::StephanieWith a content sigh, Stephanie shut her book, glad that it finished with a perfectly happy ending. She glanced through the canopy of evergreen needles and branches above her, the sun gleaming just over head, ready to descend soon enough.
She decided this was the perfect time to visit the beach. Luckily the town was right beside one of the great lakes, so the beaches would clear out right at sunset, when Stephanie loves the sky the most. She took her time walking home through the park, and entered her quiet, dim home, greeting her mother with a small wave and a smile before climbing to her room and fetching her photo camera. A perfect, clear day like this would make for delightful sunset photos, so she packed a number of lenses and various portable equipment in a messenger bag, and got onto her turquoise, retro bike and pedalled to the lake. It was so huge, that if she didn’t know better, Stephanie would have thought it was the ocean.
She arrived on shore just to see a few people packing up their pick-nicks and retreating to their cars. Infact, some of them seemed in much of a hurry, when she noticed the little red flag on the lifeguard’s post, meaning: “Stay out of the water”
She guessed it was some form of toxin released, or maybe a wild animal had been spotted. It didn’t matter to her though, since she wasn’t interested in getting INTO the water. Stephanie fiddled with her camera, then picked through her messenger bag, looking for the right lens, which seemed to be at the very bottom. Finally, she found the treasure at the bottom of her bag, the other lenses and equipment piled in her other arm. Gingerly, Steph tried to slide the equipment back into the bag, but it all ended up slipping onto the sand. Groaning, she bent over to pick up each lens and dust off every piece of sand that had managed to make it’s way into every nook of the pieces.
.::KrystalKrystal noticed Nicole and Jesse talking farther down the counter. Nicole was really popular - almost controlling - and for a minute, Kris debated whether she should go chat with her. Suddenly though, the lean brunette grabbed her purse and left her brother stranded. “Following her out the door would just make me look desperate.” Krystal thought to herself, watching Jesse order up even more alcohol. Suddenly, Stacy’s hushed voice broke her thoughts. “I like a man who drinks.” Stacy purred, eyeing Jesse, still rubbing down the counter with her cloth, just out of habit.
Krystal rolled her eyes. “Please, Stacy. He’s way out of your league.”
Stacy scoffed “What is that supposed to mean?”
“I meant that he’s a senior, and you’re two grades below him. He’s obviously not going to notice a freshman going into her second year.” Krystal observed, watching him exit the pub.
Stacy grinned and rolled her eyes, hands on her hips. “Well YOU’RE only a year younger than him! Why don’t YOU make a move?” she challenged. “Because you’re a chicken? Scared of getting rejected?” she teased playfully.
“No,” Krystal replied calmly, “I’m currently single, and loving every moment of it. I don’t have any time for boys.”
“I’ll give you ten bucks and a free donut!” Stacy quipped suddenly.
“What??” Kris questioned, lifting a confused eyebrow.
“I DARE you to go out there and….flirt with him. Make him give you his number!” Stacy cheered, sliding a pen and paper towards Krystal, knowing that she wouldn’t refuse. The blonde groaned, taking the pen and paper. Krystal was pretty much FAMOUS for completing ANY dare asked of her, so she sped out the door to catch up to Jesse, but he was already gone down the road, towards the forest. A knot tied in Krystal’s stomach at the sight of the forest, but she would sooner give away her firstborn than go back into that diner without that boy’s phone number.
Krystal took in a deep breath and followed him, looking down as she walked, until she finally emerged into a tiny clearing to see him sitting on a rock, alone. “Hey..uh..Jesse?” she asked quietly taking slow steps to face him. “I kinda need a favour….”
.::Tori Tori sat at the diner, and ordered a Coke. If ever anyone needed him, this was the most likely place he’d be, just hanging out alone.
.::Talen Talen returned outside after a bit, deciding he should do something to get to know the town. Maybe take a walk, or visit some public places.
Down the road, he saw a girl come out of her house, and walk down the road. She looked bored, ad if she had no where to go, so Talen decided it was a good place. “….Hi.” he said to her, his grey-blue eyes partially hidden behind his sunny hair. He hoped he wasn’t coming of as a complete freak who just stopped people in the middle of the street to say hi. “I…I, uh…I just moved here…” he said, motioning to his house and studdering uncontrollably. Couldn’t he have picked a less attractive neighbour to talk to?!
“I, um…I guess we’re neighbours? I mean…we’re not next door neighbours, but like…street neighbours, y;know? We share a street, so I guess that’s kinda the same, right? But if you don’t want to be neighbours, that’s fine too. I guess it’s more of a personal prefrence, right?” he nervously went on, then realized he was blabbing. “… I’m Talen.” he finally introduced himself, looking away.
