The land worms slid their gigantic bodies into the dirt once more, roaring in anger. They could follow Artyom into the wetlands; it had plenty soft dirt for them to dig through, but the water could easily seep into their tunnels and drown them, just like their smaller, docile relatives. So instead, they screamed in hunger and followed their tunnels away from there, returning to the faraway place when they had first picked up Moira's scent.
