Barney slammed the door shut. Now, in front of Chimere, lay a desolate concrete street to match all the other concrete. Signs blew by, and blue forcefields guarded by CPs stood at each end of the block. People marched by, but they didn't spare Chimere a glance. If they did, they would be killed.

I'm going to assume that asking for help is going to be fatal. Chimere decided, wondering if she could blend into the crowd. Possibly, although that kid just said that I was someone famous.... That could be bad, if it turns out that I have enemies. I probably do. That part never seems to change....

So far, half of the people didn't know of Gordon Freeman. They had their souls sold to the Combine (not literally) and gave in to the new changes. The others...Well, they were kicked out of all known society. The crowd was leading to different workplaces, and those also had the guards in front of the door....The only thing that looked safe was an alleyway overcome with weeds.

Deciding that the crowds weren't safe in the slightest, Chimere snuck along the walls into a deserted alleyway filled with tall weeds. Slipping inside, she was glad that her practice with stealth in her other humanoid form carried over into this one. Of course, there might be something like that in this body, too. I shouldn't be so quick to claim good things as being placed here by me. she thought, feeling slightly safer in the weeds.

The alleyway turned out to be bigger than anyone would think. The weeds covered most of the entrance, but the alley curved downward, where a half-broken door at the top of a rickety latter sat. Someone in one of those blue worker suits opened the door and looked down, "Get up!" He shouted.

Taking this command as meaning to get up the ladder as she wasn't sitting, Chimere took the rough surface in these alien hands, these man's hands. Forcing this odd body to climb, she missed her old form again, where she had the confidence to skip rungs in ladders. Will I ever get that body back? Will I ever dance among the stars again?

The guy helped Chimere up, even though she really didn't need any, "The CPs caught on. What did you do? You woke up the entire cities police force!" The guy complained and lead her into the house, where more of the blue suited people sat, carrying guns, "Here." One said and handed her a crowbar.

"What is it with this body and crowbars?" Chimere muttered, taking the heavy length of metal in her hands. "Um, if I may ask, who do you all think I am? I don't think that I'm the right person here...." she asked, looking around the group through her new glasses. By all of the Elder Gods, I hate this body....

I dunno...I kinda wanna bring them to R'lyeh, but I like all the crowbar jokes...)

"What happened!?" The guy shouted and promptly smacked Chimere/Gordon upside the head, "Get a hold of yourself, Freeman! We need you! We don't need a guy who can't handle being himself!" The second he finished, everyone in the room (two guys including the "Main" guy and one girl in the corner) all murmured things about Freeman and his crowbar as if they were talking about the Pope and the Virgin Mary.

Wincing as she was hit upside the head, Chimere growled dangerously, these unfamiliar eyes still flashing. "If the mind inside the body is different than the one you are familiar with, then how the hell can I get a hold of myself?" she snarled softly, glaring daggers at the man who had smacked her. "I ask, because the mind in this body is not the mind of this 'Gordon Freeman'. Trust me on that one...."
