Jet listened carefully, only just wondering if he could find a way to play that on the piano. He would have bet his life he could.

Logan listened to each chord and note, picking them up as the song went along, and he thought the lyrics were brilliant.

"Angel, you can fly--y--- y!" Brendan found himself at the last chord before he even knew it. The last B chord came out and he jerked back to his friends. "It's still a work in progress..." he apologized.

"Maybe it should be. But I guess that my songs are never really finished, I'm always tweaking them." Setting the guitar pick on his lap, Brendan flexed his fingers, popping them. "I've written lots of songs, but I've never thought that any of them are good record material..."

"My band never thought that either..." Nathan sighed. "We had a talented songwriter too, but he was a perfectionist and was never happy with us..."

"I know! Every other line in my songs is "Like a...." you know, a simile." Brendan laughed. "I'm always comparing people to things in my songs."

Logan chuckled. "Similes too. But I guess most people learned that in the fifth grade so I'm not that surprised that tons of songs have them." he said with a small shrug.

"I've toyed around with notes before, but I've never actually written a song." Jet said quietly.

"Yeah. I think it was sixth grade when we learned about them. So I guess it's what people are used to." Brendan replied. "Plus, oftentimes they make the most powerful songs."

"Same here." Nathan motioned over to Jet. "I have some creative ideas for rhythms, but I've never really written a true song."

Logan grinned. "Yeah, and I think by those similes you can certainly know the feeling the writer wants to convey." he said thoughtfully.
