((Oh they can. Usual litter size is between 1-5, sometimes 6 or 7. Record litter size was 19, I believe. Only 15 kits lived though. :<))

The tom grew very still. Six. Kits. Mixed emotions crashed their way through him; fear for his mate, fear for his unborn kits, joy at the prospect of soon becoming a father, joy that Fluffwhisker seemed overjoyed, and then back to fear. What if she died in the process? What if they lost some of the kits? All of them? What if she didn't have enough milk to feed them? He knew that Berrypaw and Jadepool were giving her borage and honey to help her produce milk,
six kits would need a lot of feeding. Abruptly he grew light-headed, eyes rolling back just a bit as he slammed back into present thinking. In a slightly slurred voice, he murmured to Jadepool, so quietly that Fluffwhisker couldn't hear, "Will she and the kits... will they be all right?"

"No problem," the she-cat responded, trailing after Harefoot. They were approaching owl tree, where many cats have reported seeing a massive owl that nested in the hollow part at the top; thus, the name owl tree fits it. They turned right, heading for the ShadowClan border as Sandpelt had said they would. Even from this distance, she could detect the barest stench of the thunderpath and hear the faint sounds of the monsters running along the stretch of black rock. Her pink nose wrinkled as she pictured the shiny, varied-colored pelts of the things and their black paws churning up the oily, stinky ground as they sped this way and that.
